TWO GUNS

Senior Member
Have to pass this on to ya'llfolks. This really surprisedheck out of melast night. To start, I am VERY allergic to poison oak / ivy >>>>With that being said, most knows whatI can go threw when it gets to me. The misery is something else. Anyway, the night before last, stayed up most of the night, scratching , bitching ,throwing denatured alcohol on the" itchy spots " thatcovered my legs and feet, some on the arms. But my God, I thought I was going to go crazy. THEN , phonerings, a friend on theline was listening to me bitch about the scratching. Out of nowhere, he told his wife and she said to get some " Polar Ice" , LISTENVERY CLOSE >>> THIS STUFF WORKS !!!

It being late, they drove over and brought me what they had !!!! INSTANTLY, the inching STOPPED >>> I MEAN IT STOPPED RIGHT THEN AND THERE !!! PERIOD ... I have never had anything work so damn good. So, today, when to the stores and purchased threejars of this stuff !!!! Some places they call itICE BLUE, some places call it ICE COLD, and like he give me, was called POLAR ICE ~~~~all states on the front " ANALGESIC GEL "don't matter , it works, and thelabel also statesthat the active ingredients is Menthol 2% >>>> Purpose, " Topical Analgesic" I was told it was suppose to give temporary relief of minor aches and pains of musclesand joints ... Cost $1.75 per jar

Trust me, I am shocked !!!!

Wonder if it will work on my wife's mosquito bites? They don't bother me much, but she gets really, really itchy until it drives her crazy. And this part of the world is a bit of a challenge for folks who are unduly bothered by mosquitoes. Will have to try it out! Thanks for the tip!

It's worth a try !!!! And you will not have that much invested in it ... Now I also go crazy with bug bites. Haven't triedthe Polar Iceout on the mosquitos yet. But I do know, if I get ared bug bite ( some call 'em chiggers ), I will take clear fingernail polish, and brush some on the red bug bite, and the iching goes away. Folks say that when air hits places like these, this is what causes them to start itching.... forI'm no doctor, but when something like that damnscatching take upon me, I can't take it, I'll try anything Onfoot !!!! Butlike I said, the clear nail polish kills the red bug bite and make it quit itching on myself and my boys ....

I'll keep my eyes open for that product.

What I've been using for several years with fantastic results is a product called Tecnu. You can rub it on you before you get into the poison oak/ivy/sumac to stop the poison from getting to your skin or put it on afterwards to make it go away.

When I get into poison Ivy I just go to a wet land or a ditch and get a weed that has a orange type of a flower that will pop when you touch it and it has a jell in the stem that will give instant relief and get rid of the poison ivy...It also usually grows near poison ivy...........

Rusty Anvil,,,,,,

We use the Tecnu soap. If I suspect that I have touched poison ivy then I wash with the soap. It is a partial mineral spirit emulsion that breaks down the poison ivy oil and washes it away. I usually get poison ivy on my hands from the roots when I'm doing something that involves roots. The worst I ever had was in thedead of winter and it was from touching roots.

The best pharmaceutical that we have found is clobetasol propionate gel .05%. It's a prescription gel but it works on the itching in a heart beat and it dries out the rash. It's available as a cheap generic.

I've got some Icy Blue so I'll give it a try.

'clobetasol propionate gel .05%.' yes that stuff right here that doggman has posted is some good stuff to get rid of any kinda rash my sons dr gave us some and man that stuff works wonders on getting rid of it my son is going through his span in life where he is alergic to it too so that stuff comes in real handy.

My poison ivy story is actually about poison oak. As a young teenager hiking once upon a time in some California hills, I needed urgently to relieve myself in the woods. Not having any TP to hand, I used the widest leaves I could reach. Yep. Turned out they were poison oak leaves. I was a VERY uncomfortable camper for the next couple of weeks! And of course I was way too embarrased to explain to anyone the root of my discomfort!

I am fortunate that I am just naturally so mean that poison leaves me alone unless I get an open scratch. Then I get a small welt at the scratch but otherwise nothing. Nobody mentioned sumac but that is some nasty stuff also.My wife and one son get it bad. The smoke from burning it will make their whole face swell up while I can burn it all day long and never get a bit. The roots of poison oak are especially nasty as the juice will cause almost instant welts for most folks. A friend used to make wreathes from vines and found out the hard way about it. He was off work for 3 days and looked almost comical he was swelled so bad.

Actually, it can be extremely dangerous, even life-threatening to breathe smoke from burning poison oak. It is a significant danger for wildfire fighters in CA.
