Welcome to Net Tractor Talk Roger.
I've never heard of anything like the problem you are experiencing.
How long have you had the tractor (ie: is it new to you or has it been yours awhile and this just started?)
Not sure what captivating sounds like ....is it a slushing sound? Could the hydro lines have been hooked up wrong?

Bought this tractor about a year ago, its around 1976 . before i get it 3 years ago had a new clutch put in it. pump makes a wining sound. when this happens it starts jerking. motor runs fine. has it got a screen type filter on that may be stopped up? cranked it up today. all is cold, pump making wining noise & hyd. jerking. then a straighten up. might run for 1 hour before it starts again. check oil level and it runs out dip stick hole!!!!!!!
thanks for helping me.

I realize this is an old post, but I just came across it. Yes it does have a screen. It is in the botom of transmission case on right side under the step. Plug is about 2 inches across and you need a 1/2" breaker bar to loosen it. Try cleaning it and if that doesn't help, you might have a problem with filter relief valve or internal leak somewhere. Let us know how you make out.
