Introduction and a Question

I just purchased an older RTV900. In good condition and appears to have been serviced regularly, but high hours. Runs and drives nice and no strange noises. It has hydraulic dump on the bed. Beside the lever for the bed dump is a yellow lever with the lock engaged. The visual shows the lever with two positions and at each end it a "gear" symbol. What does this lever do? PTO? I have been a John Deere guy for 50 years, two cylinder loader tractor and two cylinder bulldozers. This is all new to me, so please be patient. It would appear that this was used on a horse farm as there was horse manure in the tire treads. It looks like it did a lot of running around as it is in really nice shape and not been abused. I have figured out most things and downloaded several manuals, not exactly the correct vintage, but most of the important stuff seems to line up. The yellow lever is a puzzle though.

Welcome to the forum !!! :) The last RTV900 I had was a 2011/12 and had a front bumper curved like that where as my 2005 's bumper was more flat. The seat was also contoured like that on the 2011/12. It looks to me like you may have the extra controls for the utility model . I base that opinion on what appears to be a cooler on the passenger side below the cargo bed. It does look like a great machine. Haha, now I see the rear tailgate saying that it's the utility model in the last picture. I would check the front hubs and the differential to see it the fluids ( sudt hyd) have been changed. And of course the other more obvious oils. . Use SUDT2 hyd for the hyd system and oem filters . I also use the JD II 10-40 in my engine with oem filter but thats your call. I had over 4200 hrs on each machine and never had fluid related problems... Zero blow by .

The dif lock is a foot pedal and an orange knob that are clearly marked. Maybe rear hydraulic outlet? I need to spend more time with it, but have been busy.
Thank you for the nice welcome. Better than some forums I visit.

Hi and welcome to Net Tractor Talk. I predict you will come to love that little RTV workhorse. Awesome machines. Like BorderCollie said, but sure to use Kubota Super UDT hydro oil. Others have went cheap on the hydro oil since the machines take a so much to change, but in the long run you lose speed and reliability.
How many Hours / Miles are on your RTV 900?

I too believe its for rear hydraulics. On the back of the RTV, under the bed on the right hand side, I think you'll find 4 ports. 2 of them are currently in use for the hydraulic bed tilt. To the right of those 2 ports, there should be 2 more ports. That yellow lever will control those 2 ports.

I am going to look it over closer today. Does anyone have the "magic decoder ring" for these? This is the serial number tag.

I spent yesterday afternoon check it out. Other than changing the engine oil, everything is up to date with new oil and filters. The yellow lever controls the second set of hydraulic outlets at the rear of the rig. It had a new battery last year ((battery has a build date on it).
