JD Model 655

My John Deere Model 655 tractor with 1600 hrs often won't start when it is hot, but not overheated. This happens during the summer during mowing after 2-3 hrs. Once it's cooled down it starts right up. Sounds like there is a temperature cutout somewhere that needs replacing. Does this make sense?

I've had starters and starter mounted solenoids do that to me. Start cheap and simple then work into expensive and complex.
