John Deere 332 Shutdown

I've got a John Deere 332 Diesel Garden Tractor. Daughter was mowing and when she pulled the light switch to the on position the mower just quit. Now it won't start or even turn over. When turn key to on position the battery is good and engages the fuel cylinoid and glow plugs. Then when you turn key to next position the started won't engage into the flywheel. I took off starter and tested. It tests out fine! Is there a main fuse or fusable link or do you think the key isn't activating the starter cylinoid?

Welcome to the forum.

It sounds like a blown fuse. One that runs the lights but also controls a safety switch.

I have a 332 also. The same thing happened (exact symptoms) to me once when I had left the mowing deck in the on position-and killed it later a re crank attempt would do nothing. In your case , I agree with BCzoom- it could be a bad light wire, blown fuse shorting something out. I have the huge shop manual but will be out of town till tonight. If you need me to look something up, remind me tomorrow and I will be glad too. bordercollie

I got fixed. I hooked up a starter tester switch. I put key to on position after cycling through glow plugs, hit the manual starter switch and the tractor started! Now the problem lies between switch and cylinoid starting post. Now i decided to look at the three fuses. Wow first fuse pulled is a 25 amp and it was blown. Put a 30 in since thats all I had and we have a success story! Lights suck anyway so I'll just unplug the lights and just leave alone. Thanks everyone.

Congrats.
Thanks for the follow up. Always good to know how things worked out. :thumb:
