kubota rtv1100 water seperator?

When water trapped in the fuel filter freezes, it expands and chokes off the free flow of fuel....could be your problem. Above freezing the ice crystals melt back to water allowing the filter to pass more fuel.....At least that has been a problem I have had a few times over the years. The heavier water will occupy the lowest point in the fuel path.

That separator kit would probably work....so does replacing the filter.

Diesel fuel can jell in cold weather if it's untreated. Get some Power Service or similar fuel treatment and add to the tank. The filters on these are small and if water is in the fuel, it will also block the flow when the media gets saturated with water. If you have a water problem, it will still block the fuel even if it's warm.

If you look, with a strong flashlight, into the fuel tank at the side closest to the frame rail you should see the brass fitting for the outlet.

Right beside it I often would see the water and dirt that collected in the tank.

With a siphon hose, I would periodically suck a cup or two out to clean it up. Aimed right where the water lays you can siphon it right out.

Then I installed one of those filter kits you linked to and problem solved.

When installing make sure you know exactly which side is the inlet to the filter and which is the outlet. The Kubota dealer version was the reverse of what you would think and although clearly marked, I know of at least one person who installed it backwards. And he was a Kubota mechanic. Go figure. Guess some people can' read directions.

No wait, most people never read the instructions.

I bought a barrel of off road diesel, thinking I'd save a few $$$s and wound up with several water plugged filters. I bought a Mr Funnel and eliminated my water problem. They are sorta spendy for a funnel, but saves a lot of headache and filter problems.

Thanks for the info guys, I buy my diesel in bulk tanks so water is always a problem with the constant temperature changes living on the atlantic coast line. I treat with a conditioner regularly but I still get caught occasionally and I go through a lot filters on my tractor. I wish these filter housings came with drain cocks.

Amen !!! Bought one about 5-6 years ago. That contraption is a blessing.
Use it on EVERYTHING from MOTORCYCLES, RTV's, Tractors, Chain Saws and mowers.

They are worth their weight in GOLD !!! We never have debris or water trouble.
And one don't have to worry about filters !!!!

Being the way the RTV is set up. I have made a extention on our Mr. Funnel. Purchased some CLEAR hose and pushed it upon the funnel. Clamped it. Strap
up the funnel up to the grab bar beside the seat. Pour away. Remove extention
when needed for smaller items.

People would be surprised on what comes threw the filters at the pump. Mr. Funnel will tattle on how well your fuel is coming out of the tank a fuel stations.

Thanks Two guns, there's no better product advertising than a satisfied user. I will be getting one of those filters for sure.

BaiJiu,

There are many marine filter kits on the market with drain cocks.

Also, there are some tractor kits that has the drains.

Thanks Two guns I will be sourcing one for my tractor as soon as the weather warms up.

I have those drain type on some equipment. But not on the Kubota RTV as
of now, but really been thinking about installing one. But I have had NOT had
no problems with water and debris.

I bought a Mr Funnel after hearing about it here on the forum. i use it for the RTV and JD tractor. Knock on wood, I have yet to have any diesel fuel related problems. However, and as others have said also, to bad the RTV fuel cap isn't more conveniently located.

Thanks keifer I found a supplier for the funnels in NS, actually a marine company I deal with for my boat supplies, In Canada they go under the name Racor fuel funnels. I got the name and location from the Me Funnel web site.

Thank You Two Guns and Milkman for getting me headed down this path.

You are much welcome BaiJiu .>>>,
Something else, did not know if you were aware of the quality of diesel fuel
we ALL recieve today.
May I suggest using a quality fuel additive for lubricant for your engine :
We use Stanadyne , there are other quality additives on the market.
This is a copy of a post I did last year.
This is the way I look at it when it comes to the fuel additive thing for my diesels.......
Low Sulfur or High Sulfur, Red or Green, North or South, don't matter.
The fuel is NOT what it used to be. Damn diesel don't even feel or smell
the same as it did years ago. I can remember, if you got diesel fuel on
your hands, you could NOT just go wash or wipe it off. You had to work hard to get
it off of you and the smell just faded away after awhile. Today is different.

I will gamble with some things in life. My equipment is not one of them.
I Do know IF I DON'T use some sort of additive to lube the injuectors / pump, the gamble is there. Might run forever, might not, might not ever run in time. MIght cost big $$$ to fix what could of been prevented. That is a gamble that I will not take.

BUT, I can say this, If I can prevent problems for happening, I will .....
For I am willing to spend six dollars per 125 gallons to prevent a machine that cost thousands & thousands of dollars from falling apart and staying broken down.

This goes for anyone, anywhere, including myself. If you can afford a diesel
pusher, either a RTV, Pick-Up Truck, Motor Home, Tractor, etc, etc, ....
You can afford to add a little something for prevention. Why gamble with NOT adding something. If you do add, you got a chance of it lasting a lifetime. If you Don't use something, you are gambleing with your engine's life.
Hell, we all buy expensive insurance for our homes, business', equipment, and toys. Why not think of this as some sort of insurance, if nothing goes wrong, you come out on top !!!!!!!

Thank you again Two Guns, I use a product called Prolab DBF-4 it's a diesel fuel conditioner and lubricator. Meets DFP, DEF & ULSD. 1 Lt. treats 2000 Lt. of diesel. All the foresters use it in their Processors,

I don't know what happened to the previous post, I wasn't finished, I keep getting these pop up's blocking my post, when I moved away from the pu It posted.

I've been using Prolab for a few years now and I won't be switching anytime soon. If all the foresters can use it in their Processors, Harvestors, Porters, Forworders, etc. under their conditions then it is definitely good enough for me. This stuff is expensive but 1 lt seems to last forever and you have the comfort of knowing it works.

If you don`t know what product to use or where to purchase good products, check in with your forestry or farming equipment suppliers or long haul trucking companies

Great .... My son is a diesel specialist / mechanic . He swears that many problems with diesel engines could be prevented in many cases if the owners would
use some preventive maintence including a lubricating additive.
