L2800 HST w/loader

Howdy all,

Just wanted to get some feedback from those out there with the L2800 HST. I am looking to get a compact tractor to work around the yard, haul wood, light landscaping, etc.

Any thoughts on this tractor and its capabilities? I have a choice for a JD 7900 with a manual tranny as an alternate but I think for loader and box blade work the HST is the way to go.

Thanks for your help.

I have the Grand L 3010 HST and love it. The L2800 HST came out after mine. All my tractors before this one had a clutch and I have no problem with using the clutch ....but it sure is nice having HST. I'll never go back to clutch. Like you said for FEL work and box blade work, mowing, bush hogging etc. HST makes the job quicker and easier.
I've heard nothing but good stuff about the L2800. I don't think you could go wrong if you bought one.

could not agree more

Doc is soooo right on HST. Much better control of speed when you need it.

I could never go back to a clutch

Same here, I'm a shiftless person too!

The L2800 HST does have a clutch though. For the transmission range and the pto.

I have a L3400 and really like it. It's almost 4 years old. Only problems have been the 3 pt rate control was replaced when new and I've had one hydraulic hose leak.

Finally got my new toy - L3400

Howdy y'all,

I finally did it and made the purchase of my L3400 Kubota tractor. It was a tough decision, compared to all that is out there, but the more I use it the better I feel about my decision. I did my homework well, and that is the key. A good friend of my said, "decide what you need and go up a size". I am glad that I did just that.

I went with the manual transmission as it is very simple to operate and can keep my feet resting on the floor board rather that rocking back and forth on the HST. I know that hydro it is probably the best thing ever, I heard that from a lot out there, but it depends on the the work you are doing and if you want or can to shell out the extra bucks.

I have an Ansung 2540C loader which is really strong. Much better performance that the stock loaders. Went witht he Ag tires for traction and easy clean. The R4 industrials will load up with clay quick and be slicker than a baby trout. There're good, but for some earth work the ags clean out nicely so you don't track the whole field into the barn.

Got some nice implements, a 5' brush hog, rototiller, and box blade. Took the rototiller out last weekend and shaped the drain gully in the front of our house. Made the slope as smooth and even. Even have a canopy.

One thing that I was afraid of and was aware of it was the 3pt control valve. It is VERY choppy and would like to know of the fixes that are available. I am not sure if this is a factory fix or if there is something I can try. It is not that bad but I can see it for fine work with the blade or tiller.

Any good tips would be appreciated and I'll keep you posted on the performance as I get more used to it.

Take care,

Eric
