Spots are pretty well all gone on ours up here. As the cold comes in they get darker in color as well. They are eating good on the alflalfa and clover which is still fairly green considering we had over 6" of snow a week ago.

Good looking deer, all our deer must be in black and white. All the photos were at night.

Which model of camera do you use.

Onlycamera's we use is the Cuddeback ~~~Most are Experts models, but we alsohave many Excites >>> and just this year, we started using the Capture. Experts are nice, but to much trouble. I like to open, change out cards, and go about your business >>>> Butwith the Experts, you got to program this, punch that , doeverything but stand on your head to complete acompactflash card change . That is why we started using the Excites & Captures.Just open, turn off , change cards, and go , just that easy ....

I used to have some " no flash " & some Infared models, but just don't like the camera shots as well ....

The flash on outdoor cameras do not scare off the animals at all . Been doing this for years, and does not bother our deer at all. I spent the money, thinking the no flash & IR's were better. In my opinion, they are not !!! And something else we found out ,using the Duracell batteries in Cuddebacks, they last so much longer than any other brand of battery... Memory cards, SanDisk ..... they have always give up good service.

With Cuddeback cameras, when you open the box up and it says " wait " or do not remove >>>>> DON'T, do what it says or you will fry your camera, and they don't come cheap >>>>>

Thanks for thecomprehensive "remote wildlife" camera report. Nothing like hearing first hand experiences from someone who has actually used the equipment.

Do any of you who use these camerasthink this type of camera would be any practical use as part of a poor mans 'after-the-fact security system' in a machinery shed or out building? Did you buy these camera from a big box store or online. Cost info?

Keifer, a RTV wannabe

Yes Keifer,

We also use Cuddeback cameras for security purpose around our plantations & farms.Got them set up in the entrance of barns, sheds, gates & fields. Some of the IR & NO Flashes I used in the woodsare used in these places.....

With the Expert models, youcan also video >>>

The way they are sold now, best just to go to ebay and buy from some of them who has a great feedback likethe seller " Poor-Fish " & " United Outdoors " who has a big feedback with 98% pluspositive ....

Hope this helps !!!!

Do any of the Cuddlebacks come with any sort of anti-thieft device? The problem with my place is its not fenced in the back and too many punks on 4 wheelers running the woods. Have not had any issues this year but in the past have had stands turned over and feeders stolen.

They have what they call a " bear safe " box. You can install it on a tree with a lag bolt, then insert camera, and padlock it. BUT, who knows, if you have a smart-ass with a axe or something like that, he could cause you trouble.

What we do much, is climb a ladder, and install it up on a limb or out of sight & reach. Tilt / Aim camera where you want it to watch. Another thing is what we call the " trashy spots ". We have a old plastic trash barrel, we have screwed and glued old pieces of wood and " shop junk " into. Have a hole cut in the side and rigged up a mounting board on the inside. Of course, there in nothing on the inside but the camera, but when you put the lid on the top, looks like a garbage can full of shop trash. To set it up, on the outside, we just pile old coke crates and old wet looking boxes around. Even have went as far as opening up a can of sardines, and pour the juices and little fish around the can, BUT NOT ON IT or in it. Just close, Just enough to make it smell >>>>Serves us very well. Being I also do some work with the Sheriff's office & local police enforcement division, I've used this on many places to catch some wrong-doers >>> hell, it works , even had a twomen who wasbreaking into a professional office building, one tied his shoes while the other started breaking into the door. All of this caught on the Cuddeback .... got their picture, got the judge to sign a warrant, they were in jail in less than twelve hours. They pled guilty, after they seen their own pictures !!!!! Of course, the Infared camera was being used. But if you can get it high and point in the direction you want to be " eyeballin' " , you are covered .....

Another thing they do down here is , take a " dummy camera " and let them find it, they go stupid and detroy the dummy, the whole time the real camera is taking pictures of them doing their thing. Works every time >>>>
