Loud High Mount Air Filter

Hi All!

I have a new RTV900 w/20 hrs on it and could not think of being without it now that I've used it on our 80 acre ranch. I had the dealer install the high mount air filter that attaches to the screen behind the passenger's head. I asked him to save me the stock one and I'm glad I did. After about 5hrs of driving, I changed back to the stock air filter because the air noise being drawn in to the air cleaner was pretty uncomfortably loud. The high-rise is a good idea - but the noise!!! Maybe the noise with the cabed 900's that have a rear window midigate this problem. The original location may not be the best but, it sure is a lot quieter.

What do you all think about mounting the high-rise on the roof rather that having it mounted just under the roof line behind the passenger's head? For you that have this set up on the roof without the rear window does it reduce the airdraw noise? What about the the unit that uses the original air cleaner but, has a precleaner on top of the high-rise intake pipe?

Any help, comments and advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Clay.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM !!! GLAD YOU WALKED IN !!!

I also have the high rise air filter system like you have. Yes, it makes more noise, but inmy case, it don't bother me one bit. I would rather have a little noise, than to have all that junk clogging up my filters. The filters cost much. I've had my high rise on mine over a year now, checked the filter the other day, and it's as clean as the day I put it on. Cannot tell you the mud / dirt/ andmuddy water It's been threw in the swamps and fields in the year it's been on . But it's still clean. And I know my engine appreciates it much also ....

I also installed a sliding back glass, that toned it down much. Also, I've got to have the high rise air system . Wouldn'town a RTV without it in my case.....Maybe that accessory is not for everyone. BUT, don't know whatcondition you runyourRTV on, but less than12 hours or so, my OEM filter was sofull of dirt / dust etc .... and it was in March, dusty weather hasn't even showed up yet here. and I havn't really run the machine in anything yet !!!! As stated before in other threads, the cab forms a boxed vortex / vacuum where the OEM filter sits, and all the BS goes into it there. I would imagine Kubota has there reason for putting the OEM air box there. But personally, I cannot find that reason. Worse spot in the world. You might find another place topipe your air box.

Weather you use the high rise or not, the slider back window is a big plus also.

What all do you plan doing with your RTV, what accessories do you plan on installing......... Send us a picture of your machine ..........

Itkeeps cold air from blowing down your neck in the winter time. Helps keep blowing rain water off your back if you have to be pointed in a certain direction and need not to move the machine ( Like hunting out of the RTV ).Keeps dust from swarming intoyour cab constantly. If I'm carrying corn / grainin the back of the RTV in containers to fill up some of the auto-deer feeders. That grain dust don't come bailing into the cab. And also, some of the suppliments I put in the deer feeders comes is a rough powder form, and it will blow-back into the cab. The slider back glass serves many purposes. You can open it up pretty wide if you want air to come threw your cab. It's a accessory that I wanted, and happy that I installed it !!!!

OPEN PICTURE SHOT

Excellent job on the window install!!! Looks great! After reading the threads on this site I had the high rise air cleaner installed on my RTV900. As stated by Two Guns and others, it is one of the best things to do..

Thanks for the explaination. You're window looks good.

What do youhang onthecolored clipsthat are attachedinside the cab above therear window?

CLAY BUSTER ,

Member ajdillion set me up with this item, I can't thank him enough !!!!

The clips are there to hold the third rifle ( Scabbord ), use as a headrest, and storage some items ..... It's a great accesssory !!!!

Clips make it easy to install ( or remove when not needed ) ~~~~ On & Off in seconds !!!!

I have a two gun ( not me ) Big Sky overhead gun rack, which I do love. Mrs. Two Guns & my deer rifles, which are big caliber weapons, .300 & .338 , usally rides up there. We always carry a third smaller caliber rifle, ( .223 ,204, 22-250 or a 22 hornet... ) for busting the wild boars, coyotes , & beavers !!!!

The third rifle slides into a padded area behind the pockets that you see. The opening flaps in on the ends as you can see in the picture ~~~~~~~~

If you want to see what and where some members get their accessories, there is a post / thread that always stays on top, to help with that information, take a look, you also can add your to it to help others also, take a look !!!!!!
