Major flooding hitting central Pa. and NY

muleman RIP

Gone But Not Forgotten
Folks are in a world of hurt anywhere along streams and rivers. Up here the reservoirs are filling up fast on the flood control lakes and one is already over the emergency spillway. East of me they are evacuating over 10,000 people in Binghamton as the Susquehanna goes to levels as high or higher than during Agnes in 72. All of our water flows over there and then turns and heads down through Scranton on the way to Harrisburg and on down to the Chesapeake bay. The flooding came so quick that one high school held the kids overnight because roads surrounding it were washed out or under water. The river stages are rising so fast folks are being told to just get out with their lives. At many locations the rivers are already out of their banks and not expected to crest till Saturday. And it is still raining hard on many areas. Pray for those whose lives are about to be changed for a long time.

I still remember the first time I saw the Susquehanna way back in 1969 in and around jersey shore . Wildest river i had ever and can't even imagine it at flood stage. I think its one of the reasons I live on top of hill in dry country. Hope for the best for those affected.

I am fortunate to live on top of a mountain so no real problems for us. As you go east from here it gets steadily worse. The bad part is all the water from up here flows east and ends up at Binghamton and then turns south toward Harrisburg and ends up in the Chesapeake bay. The water will rise to the second highest it has ever been in many areas. Folks along the Susquehanna are in big trouble and it will cause a lot of damage the farther south it goes. There are over 100,000 people evacuated so far. This pic shows our local river where it meets the Susquehanna.
