If I recall correctly, the sticker on my 2011 1140 says max tongue weight is 110 lbs....and tow capacity is something like 1300 lbs.
Neither seems like much to me. If I stand on the hitch, I exceed the max sticker capacity by 100% and more.
Now, I do understand that everything has its limits, and for a reason.
In the case of tongue weight, I'm wondering what the primary consideration is. Seems that it might be related to the following, but am wondering if any of you folks have additional insight.
That said, I just hauled my first significant load...in a small manual dump trailer which takes 3 FEL scoops of material. I guess it was about 2000lbs trailer included. Tongue weight doubtless several hundred lbs. Now, I don't expect to do this daily, maybe a few times a year.
I drove slowly, maybe 5 mph max on the gravel road, slower in the pasture. Conditions were dry. Traction was no problem. I did back the load into a ditch to assist unloading and noticed that the brakes would just barely hold the load prior to dumping. Pulling the load up the slope was difficult but accomplished....seemed I was running out of power rather than traction.
Anybody have towing experiences, positive/negative either at or over the posed tongue and total haul weight??? Words of advice??

- springs, bearings, steering will be harmed
- frame will bend, either front or rear
- legal worries...unless a low limit is advised, some idiot will use a crazy load at high speed and horrible terrain and sue Kubota for the results
