Mud /// Snow

Sure wish I could swap out the conditions I have to hunt in ... It sure is hard keeping the RTV as clean as I want.. These swamps are so full of water and mud this time of year. And ya'll folks might laugh at this, but I don't like to see my machine dirty very long. I clean this thing, just about everytime I come in from hunting. Like this morning, cannot tell you how long I spent cleaning the blood & mud off the rtv. Got it just right out spotless, and shiny !!!Knowing I couldn't go hunting today, for have a new years party toattend tonight. But you can bet, come tomorrow, it will be a black machine with a orange hood and top. Wish I had snow here to hunt in, for I know, snow cannot make a rtv look so nasty ...Five seconds into the swamps, and " BAM", it will be black again !!! I spray it down with the Son-of-a Gun protectant, all over, sosome of the mud cleans off so much easier.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYBODY !!!!!

TWO GUNS,

Conditions here in Minnesota
are somewhat different - it has not gotten above 32 degrees here since three
weeks. It is kind of hard to wash off the RTV in freezing weather
unless you have a heated garage to dry off the RTV in. Let me know what your
cleaning routine is. Do you use a power washer to clean off entire
machine first? And do you spray entire undercarriage with Son-of-a
Gun? I have been using Armor All sparingly and it has being doing fine;
however, I am not encountering the type of mud like you. I would
just like to know what other people use to clean and keep their RTVs protected
and looking good. Thanks and have a happy New Year.

Re: Mud /// Snow

Well the first thing I do is knock the biggest part of with a big ( volume ) hose. Then, pressure was the under-carrage, engine-transmission, lines etc ...From there, hand wash the outside. Dry with chamois >>> Windex front glass .... Here comes the good part, I spray Son-of-a - Gun,(or that professional protectant ) all on the inside dash, seats, floor board. wipe it all down good. Not only does it protect everything, makes it look darn good... The outside, I have purchased by the gallons, some commercial protectant like the professional car detail shops have. Spray mud flaps, wheels & tires, battery, under behind the cab under the ROPS bar, even the sidesand back of the transmission, just about everthing on the outside that will attract mud.. That way, when it time to clean the next day, the 'old swampy mud falls off pretty good. Trust me, several times I didn't spray down with the protectant on the outside and the under-carrage,.and boy, that was a mistake. Took me four times as long to clean that machine.

Now let me stress this, Mrs. Two Guns and myselfWAX this machine two times a week. If we don't have the time, bring it up to thesheriff's office, and make theprisioners ( trustees ) do the jobs for me. They do a jam up job!!! All they have is time on their hands anyway....Being, I have a sign company, and have been to seminars, and attened some special classes different properties on different products. And the resufts, We all have heard TURTLE WAX, well, the old fashioned green wax in a bottle, that is the best on the market. That's what all the experts have teached on wax subjet ...See why they say it " hard as a turtle shell" , for it is ..!!! I really believe in the Turtle Wax thing, makes everything so much better, and thing will always look and last longer !!!

I used to believe that Armour All was good, which it might be on some things, but I will not ever put it inside my machine, for I had that stuff ruin a dash on a car a few years ago, faded it out, and the car wasn't even a year old....

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman";">TWO GUNS,

Good advice. What is the name of the product that you use on the outside of your RTV that
you mentioned? Sounds like you do a nice job of keeping your RTV
nice and clean! Thanks.

Re: Mud /// Snow

You do know you're making the rest of us look bad... our RTV's as well.

My conditions aren't very muddy and when I am in the mud, it's normally pretty shallow.

My cleaning routine is pretty crude compared to yours. If I was in the mud, I drive the RTV upstream through my creek. That removes the mud. After that, it gets a pressure-washing then set to dry. The end.

Right now, we're getting snow but since the ground hasn't frozen yet, it's muddy below. These conditions aren't very nice as it's too cold to use the pressure washer. You can use a pressure washer this time of year but it MUST be put/kept in a warm (above freezing) area immediately afterwards as you cannot let it freeze as it'll normally break the impeller housing when the water inside freezes and expands.

Re: Mud /// Snow

Product using now is: POWER - LINE Shine & Shield ** Vinyl & Rubber Dressing

There are many good professional protectants on the market. Is so much easier on the pocket book, when it is purchased by the gallon. Cuts that expense down 80 plus percent !!!! Expecially the way & how much I use. And of course, the professional protectant is SO MUCH BETTER !!! Muddy up the RTV just about every day now, being in the heart of hunting season. Also, spray a light film in the back bed, dried blood just pops out with water, even with just a jug pouring it in with the bed up >>>>>

I will dig some morenames of other products in my shop tomorrow, there are several brands that I have been using off & on, but from what I figure, most ( other than Armour All ) has the same properties and ingrediants... Before I purchase a protectant product for the RTV, put a small amount on my hands & fingers, and fell the " slicky" feeling that it has, the more slick, the easier mud falls off .... Better it is. ( also spray the seat cover, butt just glides out so easy )

Don't recomend brand new owners spraying the seats, until they get the engine braking down right, might end up throwing the wife over to jungles of Cambodia

Theyuse tocarry a good protectant at the Sams Warehouse. But since my Sams is over 100 miles away, been just purchasing it from the salesmen ....
