New here and soon to be new RTV900 owner

Hey guys, been looking around all day and just thought I would introduce myself. I am Doug from SE Texas bout half way between Houston and Beaumont. We have a small 12 acre place in about the last rural strip around these parts. We call this place a farm but got rid of most the livestock a few years ago when I got down in heath for a while. Doing better now but no time for livestoce.

I go by the handle of Uncle Doug which I started using 4 years ago when my nephew who was raised under my roof joined the USMC. Corpral Joe is still in the USMC and has survived one tour of duty in Iraq. Now he is in a ever rougher place at his PSD in New Orleans. They should not seed young men to places like that (NOLA).

In the market for a RTV900 and am in the process of closing the deal on a 2007. Test drove a RTV600 last week down at the Kubota dealer. Sweet little ride but was looking for something just a little bigger. So I started looking the used market to find something in my price range. I have a Kubota L3000 4x4 with FEL so I am happy with their products.

I came over here on the invite of Two Guns. So If one day I say something bad its all his fault. He has been a great help already. Got about 10 emails and a phone call of helpful advice. Pointers on modifications and what to look out for on used units.

Welcome Uncle Doug. I used to go to antique auctions there in Orange back when I lived in La. Lot of pretty but flat country around there. I still remember a truck stop with great roast beef and lumpy potatoes really good too! That great truck stop was N.E. of Houston, I believe. Anyway welcome abord and look forward to hearing about your rig. Bordercollie

Welcome to the RTV Forum. Great place to learn and share everything about the RTV and other things in life. Good group of people to bounce things off of and to share stories and other tales of adventure and misadventure.

Keifer, a RTV wannabe

Don't be too hard on Tommy! He has 2 strikes against him already. He is a cajun and he rides a rhino.LOL Bill

Thanks for the welcome. Been reading back threads and learning neat stuff. Hopefully I will have my RTV within the next week. Sure will come in handy around here. Been doing everything off the tractor or 4 wheeler for years. Things are about back to normal around here. Been back to work full time about 6 months now and caught back up on a few thing. Paid the tractor off last year and been tring to decide which I wanted more a side by side atv or a ZTR. As hunting season is sneaking up on us and the mowing season is about over, short term a RTV is what is needed now. We hunted quite a bit when my sons were at home. They are now 26 & 30 and Joe the Marine is 22. So not much the past 4 years. My grandson Tyler is 15 and starting to get into the outdoor stuff.

hey now i am workin really hard to get the rtv now people around here are telling me i'm stupid to get a rtv just to make parts for it but hey like i said when i came here i am hear to help you guys because it doesn't seem like other(fab companies"are willing to make parts for them because they say there just ain't a market for them. they wanna make money from it and to me thats not right . now a bit of now a bit of bad news i won't be makin any more new parts nor will i be makin the old parts i did until i get a rtv and trust me i am racking my brain trying to figure out a way to fit it in i want that bumper on the rtv so bad i sit in bed at night thinkin of ways to get-r-done but hey i have always told people that when you want something bad enough and you do everything you can to get it someone up abaove will eventually step in to help you out and it's gonna happen soon i hope . i have so many things runnin around in my head of stuff i could make for them i would use up the bandwidth on the sight if i posted them but when i do get it man you guys are gonna be set up i mean what other websight has a deticated fabricator just for them? and we can thank twoguns for that cause he said man come on over to this sight they friendly over here so i came over and sure enough this websight is the best one out there . sinse i been hear i have been able to offload my sister on rusty and i made lots of friends who give me little love tap insults to make me laugh meaning twoguns/rusty and of course muleman.lol this sight wouldn't be the same without them. just incase your wondering how muleman got his name here it is he was filmed unaware by the military here's a clip from the video and rusty gort his name from the color of his butt when his roids are acting up as you can see in the picture ole rusty did look a bit soar. and i would like to welcome you to the wildworld of compact tractor review OH by the way the other gy in the video holding the leash is rusty!!

I get along good with cajuns, my dad married one about 35 years ago and she sure can cook. Growing up on this side of the Nechus river we had another name for them though. My french is a bit rusty now days.

Tommy I guess I have to actually own a RTV before I start ordering stuff for one. I will keep you in mind. It is the small business owners that have come up with all the great inventions. Then the big guy comes in and buys him out or just copies their work and mass produces stuff. Some where along the route the quality workmenship sometimes get left out.

yea right now the things i can do are limited but i have a good feeling that it's gonna change in the very near futureas for the mass produceing thing you got it right about the quality then tend to change the metal into a thin type of sheet metal instead of useing iron. bumpers are made of tubing instead of pipe. i picked up a set of bed rails for a rhino and i say with both sets in my hand they might have weighed 10lbs i was afriad to drop them now the sets i make are about 40lbs or just under that and the pipe or tubing is just under a 1/4" thick. if you make parts i'm sure lookin farword to seeing them. i search the web all the time to see whats out there and how i can make whats out there better. as for as someone buying me out that wouldn't happen why work hard to start something only to give it away and see them ruin it us small faolks gotta hang onto what we got it's us small foks who make the best stuff. good luck on getting your rtv hope to see some pictures soon right?lol

"us small faolks gotta hang onto what we got it's us small foks who make the best stuff." And you wonder why I think of you when I see that show with them little people! LOL

funny that video reminded me of when i was a kid"last year" me and my little brother found a fiberglass hull bass boat in the dump well we hooked it to the back of our 110 three wheeler and began to drag it about a 1/4 mile home from the dump it was a nice v bottom but by the time we got it home it was a flat bottom.lmao

Well we made it home with our new to us Camo RTV900. Thanks to Two Guns for fixing us up with Toxie. Got home after an 11 hour round trip deeper into parts of Louisana that I have never seen before. Got home at 6 pm in time to unload it and take it for a spin in the woods. I know Two Guns warned me about the sudden stops and dang if I forgot all about them. You remeber right quick.

Loaded it back up for a trip out to the lease to put a few hours on the RTV

Happyyou got home fine.Mightwear the seat belts until you get used to the engine braking. Remember, if you rest your foot on the fuel petal just a little, not letting the pedal go " all " the way up. It will not brake, it will " free roll "

Takes some time getting used to it, but you will master it in no time. The more you run that machine, the better the machine gets and you will get running it !!!!!

Need anything, we are always here to help >>>>

How did the rest of the crew like your new machine ?
