The corrupt, socialist, moonbat state of Taxachusetts now requires by law that everyone except illegal aliens have health insurance. Either I need to buy health insurance somehow, someway... or become an illegal alien. :rolleyes:

While the latter might actually help my business become a success, I'm told that it's impractical since I do not speak a foreign language. Heck, if I did I'd already be employing illegal aliens and would probably be wealthy by now! :o

The potential silver lining in this mess is that I may qualify for the Taxachusetts welfare health insurance plan... for which I may pay as little as zero. In this state, being dirt poor has big privileges. :cool:

Well, to start with, you can remind me that I owe you something off the dollar value menu at Wendy's! :)

What will it be? Small chili without cheese? Or that new double micro-cheeseburger? :D And do you take your tap water with ice? Or without? :yum:

In seriousness I went from one primary care doctor (1 pill/day for BP) for 10 years (nothing before that) to an army of specialists since July. Now it is 17 pills, 4 inhalations, 1 gargle, and generally an injection to start my day :eek: :puke1: right now.

The costs for the two ambulance runs from work, 2 hospitalizations (almost 4 weeks hospitalized), care and treatment of this BOOP thing is now over $100,000,000 and growing :pat: . Luckily I have not had to pay a dime (yet) due to a very good, but expensive health insurance plan through my wife's program.

If I did not have that insurance who knows where I would be right now.

You need to protect yourself. Hopefully you will be eligible for MassHealth.

Oh, believe me, I understand. At my advanced age, this is not a joking matter. To give you some idea, I recently ran short of my HBP meds through a failed attempt to save a cool $15 by combining two $15 co-pay doctor visits two weeks apart into one. Bad move on my part. I ended up seeing the doctor on an emergency basis when my pills ran out and my BP skyrocketed to the point where I couldn't even see straight. Doc wanted to have me admitted to the hospital immediately 'cause he thought I was about to have a stroke. That one hospital visit... even if I survived fine & intact... would have been megabucks. I told the Doc "no way... just gimme the damn pills." He did, but made me sign a release in case I dropped dead going out the door. Such is life in America today. Liability issues first always! :rolleyes:

I know for sure I would qualify for the Taxachusetts welfare insurance *if* I didn't have equity left in the house *and* money still in the bank that was borrowed out of the house for survival. At a minimum, I may be forced to return that borrowed home equity to the mortgage holder so that my bank account is essentially empty. There is very little I can do about the home equity I will then have showing at that point. It is what it is... and it could disqualify me. :o

Well, now I know that trying to save $15 could have cost me thousands. I was lucky. I admit it. The Doc's pills kicked in and I was darn near as good as new in no time at all. That megabuck hospital stay he was prescribing would have been a total waste of time and money.

But yes, I do need to understand the exact requirements for obtaining that welfare insurance so I can comply with the new law AND be at least somewhat insured. Lord knows that I qualify based on last year's pitiful income... but my home equity and that borrowed home equity money (a.k.a., my layoff survival fund) could get in the way.
