I have visited this forum for the past two weeks after buying a 2006 rtv900. I might say that I am not an impulsive buyer because I looked at almost every vehicle of this type before looking at the Kubota. To my amazement, I thought the Kubota was an expensive vehicle--overprised--. When I looked the machine over, I couldn't believe how well built it was. An I bought the Kubota for less then any of the other used machines! I am not new to farm equipment. I have three tractor and a Case Backhoe. This machine is built like a tractor! I have never liked an electrically operated 4x4. When you need it it may fail. Give me a lever any time. Of course the Kubota has one. I also was impressed with the metal bed and the power steering. Choosing a gasoiline powered vehicle or a diesel was not a problem for me. Some of you thank the rtv is too slow but think about this. You can run this thing wide open all day and not hurt it. It has a govenor like a farm tractor and the engine takes care of itself. I wonder how many r.p.m.'s the other machines are running at 40-45 m.p.h.? Yes the brakeing of the transmission takes some getting used to but with wet brakes on this machine they will probably last forever. I seldom use the brakes. So far I am totally pleased with my purchase.

Welcome to the forum >>>>> I, like you, was so impressed at the RTV. I purchased mine in Feb, 07 and would NOT trade it off for anything. I myself , just about everyday, get surprised on how well this machine is built. Someone had thier thinking hats on when they designed this unit. And once you compare with other utv's, it is not priced that high, being at what you get for your money. The three cylinder diesel engine is just perfect, will be there forever. I am satisfied with the speed, for my deer hunting and deer management, don't go that fast anyway. You miss to much !!!

The brake, don't ever really remember using it. As far as I am concerned, the engine brake does everything it suppose to do, and is a great safety item.

What do you plan on doing with your RTV ? Are you planning on adding any special accessories to it. May I suggest, do yourself and the RTV a favor, get a high air intake. It well worth it and does everything so much good !

Also, did you read the thread, or do you know about the two stage transmission the RTV's have. If not, it is on this forum, any questions about your unit, please ask , for I myself have learned alot just from being here. HAVE A GOOD DAY & ENJOY YOUR RTV !!!!

Welcome to the forum Jiles and congrats on your RTV.

Brakes? It has them? How do I activate? Would that be the pedal to the left of the accellerator? I don't believe I've ever used them.

I do use the emergency brake but don't recall ever needing the regular brakes.

Brian,

Has you high air intake come in yet ? Maybe sometime within the next week or so, I might find time to order them speakers & radio from audio allies ? I myself, have been so tied down with the business and all, barely had time to get the rims & tires on. Been so hot here, sure makes things ruff !!!!!

Jiles,

Welcom to the forum!

I agree with your comments on the tractor-like design. When I was looking for a tractor I didn't consider a Kubota. I visited my John Deere dealer (who is also a Kubota dealer) and he steered me to the the Kubota. In his ecperience, it is built better than the same HP JD (35-40Hp), was cheaper, and they had less trouble with them. It was also interesting to find that the smaller size JD is a Yanmar with green paint. Well... That was about 7 years ago and I never regreted it. Since then I have purchased the ZD21 zero turn Kubota diesel mower and the RTV 900. So you can see why my handle is DigOrange. All my Orange stuff is built well and has never let me down.

Yup - high rops intake is a must - Neil can hook you up.

I bought the Kubota for working on my property. It saves me time and energy. I plan to install a bed lift but the dealer offered one for $1200. To me, that is too much. I am a tooland die maker and I will eventually modify some type electric lift. Why is the high air intake better? I have mounted a Marine Battery Box for storage. Worked out pretty well, the hood serves as a cover for the tool box.

If you work in any type of dirty / dusty envoroment, the high air intake is a must ..... For the place that it is at from the factory, will collect more dirt and dust in your air filter than you can afford to replace. The back of the cab forms a vacuum, and a vortex of dust just climbs it's way into the air filter constantly. I checked mine after only a few hours, and could not believe my eyes how dirty the filter has become. Found out I wasn't the only one .Done some research, and to find out then, that Kubota makes a high rise filter system. Personally, I think they should have them installed at the factory, but, they build them, we just buy them.Since I installed mine, I have put maybe 35-40 hours on the new high air kit ., check the filter all the time, and the new high rise is just as clean as it was when it came out of the box. And also, the air box is bigger, and for some reason, I believe that it can breath better, for the peformance of the RTV picked- up so much instantly as soon as I installed it.

I sure would like to take a look at your new storage box, to see how you installed it. Any way you can post some pics ~~~~

Here is a link to the a thread on the ROPS High Air Intake:

I myself, don't have the bed lift. Figured if I was man enough to load my deer in the back, I was man enough to drag his ass back out !!!! Really, I don't have any applications that I really need a bed lift. I know alot of folks do love thiers, and they have reason, but I don't need one ~~~~

Two-Guns - nice job with the Air Cleaner description. I agree completely.

OK - when I heard you guys mention bed lift I assumed you were talking about the hydraulic lift (dump) and not some other cool device I need to buy?
