New to RTV's

Well first let me say hi! I’m new to RTV’s I just traded my 2006 Victory Touring Cruiser for a 2008 900 RTV. It has about 700hrs and looks like the rear u joint and shafts have been changed. The drive shaft going to the front is a mess, two of the three u-joints are shot and so is the support bearing. I have the shaft out and would like to know if anyone has found a place to buy the support bearing and the u-joints other than from Kubota? Also the headlights come on when you hit the brakes, is that normal or has someone wired something wrong?
Thanks

Lots of threads here on the U-joints so just do a forum search with a fresh cup of coffee and you'll get more info then you could want.

For the lights/brakes, ummmm, that's just not right.

Well I’ve search thru a pot of coffee now, wait a minuet I have to go to the bathroom! LOL!! I can’t find what I’m looking for, lots of information on rear u-joints and repairs, and some on the drive shaft. I found a way to reduce or stop the ratting, and the new one piece replacement shaft, but no numbers for replacement U-joint for the drive shaft. So off the dealer I go. I did spend some time looking at Spicer, Precision, and Neapco for a fit, but I guess Kubota had these made just for them, would be nice if they used off the shelf stuff. As for the lights I’ll just have to track that one down, it don’t seem right to me either, besides I don’t like it.

Thanks

For the lights I would look it over carefully for a damaged wiring harness or something with water in it. Are the lights normal brightness or are you getting a dim cross feed from the taillight? Might have a tailight full of water. Do they still work normal with the headlight switch?

Kubota is like every other company. They would like you to purchase THEIR parts. Not only do they maintain a good profit margin it also gets you back to the dealership. If you never return they have a hard time selling the replacment machine. They do have a good product but there are wear items that need replacement with extended usage. Enjoy the 900 and soon they will have you in a model with a cab and comfort features.
By the way... electrical problems drive me crazy. Good luck.

Agent Blue, The one I got has a cab with heater/no air. The light thing was an easy fix, the previous owner had busted out both tail lights and one of the bulbs had broken and what was left of the filaments was touching. So when I hit the brakes the head lights would come on. So not wanting to pay Kubota’s price for tail lights which I don’t know how much they are (some on ebay for $40+ each) I went to Wal Mart and got some for $6 each. Had to mount them on the same bracket as the stock just had to drill some holes, wired them up and they work just fine. Also got a bar mirror from the parts house, one that has about 4 or 5 single mirrors set at an angle now I can see better when I back up LOL. Oh! And an antenna for the radio. I got the u-joints and carrier bearing from the dealer $144, hope to get them in tomorrow

I am aware most 900s do not have a full enclosed cab. I was refering to the fact the dealer will eventially sell you an updated version ( possibly a 1100 ) after he gets to know you from buying replacement parts. If you never visit the dealership his chance is decreased.
I have replaced may factory engineered parts on equipment. In most cases original equipment is the way to go, .... unless its a 400 dollar muffler. I would have to examine that a little closer to see the value and what would make it so expensive.
The brake lite electrical problems are pretty simple with a ground and a positive wire. I was refering to the intermitent ghosts that show up now and then. Hope your " Wallmart " parts with stand the elements of nature.

my earlier post on the front drive shaft joints
You will need to gring a little off the inside of the yoke to make the clips fit and open the hole for the cap slightly but it does work fine and Ive had no problems with it in 2 years now.
The Midshaft bearing youll need to see your local rip off artist for that.
