NH TS100 4WD/DIFF LOCK

Hello all,

I need some help from the community especially if you own a TS100/110 series or used them before.

I have the 16 speed transmission version with the cab.

Recently i noticed that when i toggle the 4WD button ON the dash light does not illuminate. So i did some mechanical troubleshooting by raising the front and back and determined that the system is actually working but the light does not work.

However there is also some weird behavior with the light for the diff lock. The diff-lock switch is a 3 position. Lower position (AUTO), middle position (neutral/off) and upper position (Manual ON). When the switch is in the middle position with the brake applied the diff-lock light illuminates on the dash. With the switch in the ON manual mode the light does not illuminate. Also there is no good way for me to actually check whether the diff lock is working since the ground is not wet or muddy currently.

I believe the two light issues might be related to some type of electrical system. IF anyone has any idea where to begin troubleshooting please let me know.

Thank you all for your time

When you lifted the front and back to determine if 4WD was working, were both rear tires rotating? In the same direction? To test diff lock, lift it again, engage diff lock and confirm both rear tires are moving in the same direction, at the same speed.

Yea, it sounds like you have an electrical gremlin. Switches or instrument cluster???

Very good advice thank you ! I did determine that the 4WD issue was bulb related. On the dash. The bulb was actually burned out. And i thought that i am going to replace all those bulbs with LED. Because i cant imagine having a critical light burn. Thats bad.

On the diff lock issue : I have to lift the rear again. Its interesting because the diff-lock also seems to work in a very weird way. The switch is a 3 way. On the top selection manual ON it does not turn on the diff lock. On the Bottom selection (Auto) i also have not seen it come on. But when set in the middle (OFF/Neutral), when i press the brakes the diff lock comes on and it actually works only for the duration of the brake pedal press.. I find this weird. And maybe potentially an indication that maybe its related to the brake switch. My theory right now is that maybe the brake switch on one side works and one doesn't. This makes the computer think that i am only pressing one side of the pedal which makes the system stay OFF. Not sure. But seems to be electrical in nature.
