oem windshield for x900

Thanks for the info striperfisher.

Agree with the scratching of the poly VC5023. Was thinking of going that way do to driving in the woods a lot with limbs hitting everything, it scratches but you can't break it.

I can buy Poly blanks and make my own replacement if need be. Also have a local glass dealer that can cut me any glass if I need a replacement for one or the glass ones, so I am covered that way.

Would love to go glass just not sure how much it can take or which one.
The Laminate one is just like the windshield of a car (which shatters into little pieces when broken) and the Tempered is like the side windows of a car (which will break but hold together).

There both tough. What made you pick Tempered glass over Laminate glass?

Either way, one of these windshields is the way to go if you want to have a cab, makes no sense to get anything else sense it wont work with the build your own cab items.

Even if you don't get any other items for the build your own cab the pieces are made for the machine and look, fit and function like they should.

I went with the tempered over the laminate purely over cost. I had a hard enough time paying $750 much less $1100 and the only difference being how it shatters it jst now worth it to me

Agree.

Also the laminate one is shaped different. I think I would like the larger glass area like the tempered one.

Talked to my dealer today and he said that the Tempered glass is not on the list for the X1120D because it goes 29 mph but didn't know why it is in the listings for the X900 and X1120D on the Kubota web site.

I think I will do a contact Kubota and ask that question to be sure.

That makes sense, as its marked on the windshield for use on vehicles 25mph or less.

I bet it still fits fine. Buy it and put it on yourself problem solved

Don't know if they can legally sell it for a X1120D. I could just buy it but the insurance might be an issue with a windshield not authorized for the 29 mph???

Just an update.

I contacted Kubota on the 3 windshields they offer and they said,

quote" Thank you for your email to Kubota. The VC5025 Windshield - AS2 Tempered Glass is NOT APPROVED for use on RTV-X1120 Models. Note: Vehicles that are capable of traveling over 25 mph require glass with a AS1 Safety Rating." unquote.

The VC5020 and VC5023 both have an AS1 Safety Rating and are approved for the X1120 which goes 29mph. Kind of hard to believe 4 mph makes that much of a difference.

To keep the insurance in line I will go with one of the AS1 windshields approved for the machine I have.

Kind a makes one wonder how do high winds factor into the equation while driving, e.g. 25 MPH in 50 MPH wind or what ever wind plus gust factor????

My question is:
WILL IT FIT ?

Approved or not .....

There is many things in other countries are "APPROVED" over there, but not here.

Many medicines, medical equipment, etc ....

Not that is no good or not safe. Just has not been approved by one
branch or another. They have not completely tested .

I have a "APPROVED BY # 13 decal on my RTV.

#13 is probobly just a employee there for a tax write-off reason. There for he needed a job, or something the government said that someone had to see that it made it threw the assembly line without hesitation.

My "dingy" trailer that I use to haul smaller things threw the swamps and woods. IT IS NOT APPROVED. It is sorta a homemade. Maybe 28 plus years old.
Has been a zillion miles thew the swamps. Been overloaded, stuck, muddy, and drugged thew the worst crap you can imagine. But IT'S NOT APPROVED !!!
But has been best thing other than my RTV. Not a pretty site. Tail lights has been gone since the first trip into the swamps. Left it in the back of the swamps several times, A black bear ripped a corner of the wood bottom where deer blood soaked into. I replaced, but no, IT'S NOT APPROVED.....

As far as Im concerned. See if the windshield will fit.. If it was me, I would install
and go on with life, APPROVED or NOT !!!

Sounding a little personal there Two Guns but well taken.LOL

Everything in this country has to be APPROVED. It's ridiculous.

The bad part about the APPROVED thing is, this country is dam sue happy. They approve it but if something goes wrong you get sued but if your using something not approved, your get sued and go to jail.

As far as your trailer goes I got 3 of them kinds. Done wore them out time for another.

I can't argue your point and the Tempered windshield will fit.
Glass would be the best IMO but I think I will go Poly because I go through a lot of thick woods and think the windshield will get hit a lot.
My other machine had a Poly and it was scratched up but not destroyed.

Anyways point well taken.

Pop58, we all need to make our own choices, so go for whatever windshield you think is best for you and your situation, that is exactly what I would do.

I think what two guns was saying and I agree with him is that the best stuff doesn't necessarily have to be certified/approved. Some level of intelligence/experience has to be applied.

Baijiu, I also agree with Two Guns. Most everything I have is not certified.
Was just funing with the taking it personal thing.
Meant nothing bad and hope it wasn't taken that way.

Thanks BaiJiu, lots of good people around, love there stories and opinions. It helps me in making better decisions.

I ordered a windshield and canopy yesterday. It will look just like srtiperfishers except the windshield will be the Poly do to hitting lots of tree limbs.

And big prayers to Two Guns son and family again. There is no good time for you house to burn down, this time of year makes it that much worse.

.

For me, I have the glass, go through thick brush and woods A LOT, and am glad I have glass instead of plastic that gets scratched up and after a few years I can't see through it anymore. No, I don't go through the brush and stuff fast enough for anything to go WHACK or WHAM; but the glass is strong enough to push stuff out of the way.

I let the edge of the windshield or roof take the brunt of the finger size branches; but for stuff smaller than that the glass has held up well. Why I suggest glass is after riding behind motorcycle plexi of different kinds for many years I get sick of the polishing, yellowing, and permanent glazing that takes place and then barely able to see through it. Anyway, just my thoughts, do what YOU need to do as it is surely just my opinion..........God bless........Dennis

We must have been posting at the same time D&D.

Where were you yesterday? LOL

I might of ordered the glass if I read this. LOL again.

I think I'm just chicken to try it.

If the Poly don't work at least I can give a report on it then go down to my local glass place and have them cut and put a glass one in.
Which I already checked to see if they do that kind of stuff.
