Ooohh Boy here we go!!

Taking hay to the cows today & went to back up and Im stuck in high range!! I straightend the wheels out ,put my foot on the break, nuttin' seemed to help.I finally revved it up a little and and it popped out! Then I put in in reverse, unloaded the hay and its stuck in reverse now.....finally got it out of reverse and back into high and back in tha garage!! Makes me kinda grumpy when its only got 34.1 miles on it!I don't know if it is pilot error or it needs to go back and get adjusted,or just a pour design and engineering issue. For that amount of $$$ it should shift like a Cadillac Escalade!!

I won't go into one of my rants on Kubota's shifting 'issues'.....When all else fails, kill the engine and it should shift out of gear..not a proper solution for sure but...sounds like maybe your pressure relief via brake pedal application isn't working. I own an old 04 edition and have a different drive train so I'll leave more knowledgeable guidance to those members with newer machines.

Mine was like that for the first miles. now i have aprox 140 miles on it and it is smoothing out more every day. just don't force anything.

It sounds like its the nature of the beast. I will give it some time and miles and see what happens.Right now it is tight tight tight! I guess its better than being to loose !!

Mine was hard to shift, but it's getting better every day. Setting the parking brake really tight and revving up seems to help. Also, another thing that seems to help is nudging the shift lever somewhat briskly (not hard!) instead of applying gradual pressure. But I agree, a machine that costs like a small passenger car should come out of the dealership with a shift lever that could be moved with a fingertip...

cold weather seems to make it worse. Don't try and force it, just shut the engine off and it will shift and then you restart. At least once a week it happens and I have over a 1000 miles on mine.

Are you pumping the brake pedal or just pressing down on the pedal? On my X900 I pump the brake pedal. In the cold weather mine is very hard to shift until it warms up, then it is not too bad. Kubota should be looking at a fix for this, but who knows. I have the boss vplow on mine and I think that makes it shift a little harder also. Going to adjust the struts up front, but just got my spanner wrench in the other day. Will do it soon.

Good luck with yours.

I plowed snow for the first time with mine yesterday. It had been used as a leisure and hunting buggy to that point. Never really had an issue until yesterday when I plowed. It got a little irritating because of all the shifting from L to R. It seemed to be much worse than I had experienced before. I tried pushing and holding & pumping. Sometimes it shifted like a charm and others it was a real pain

Yup!.....Until you plow snow with one of these critters, it is likely difficult for the non snow plowing owners to appreciate the RTV shifter annoyance..particularly if a lot of fwd/rev in tight areas is required.. The old 04 RTV with no pressure relief is even more entertaining. You'll develope a technique over time that will minimize your frustration....Sympathies extended.:shit:

With the new X models if you are on any little incline at all it seems to be harder to shift.

When you push on the break it pushes a lever on the HST to relieve the pressure which will let you shift. If there is any pressure at all it will not shift easy.

When it wont shift push real hard on the break, harder then you normal, wait about 15 sec and try to shift. If it still wont shift keep the pressure on the break real hard until the pressure is relieved from the HST and the machine shifts.

Mine dose this and I believe the pressure relief lever needs adjusting but I most likely will wait till spring to adjust it because it has been to cold out.

There was a post a while back about the cable housing coming out of the holder that goes to the pressure relief valve. This is on the newer models that you use the brake to relieve the HST pressure. Mine had slipped out of the bracket and was hard to shift, if you raise the hood and look for the cable that goes down to the brake linkage you can check to see if it is still in place. The fix was to put a couple of ty wraps on it to keep the cable housing engaged in the bracket. I'll take pictures of it tonight and post tomorrow if I can't find the older post. I hope this is the problem because it sure helped my machine, it is the X1100C Pete

I have a new x900 that had a stiff shifting mechanism to start. I have made adjustments to the brake cable that releases the hydraulic pressure on the transmission and so far it seems to have fixed the hard shifting. The cable came adjusted such that it hardly (if at all) moved the cam to depress the plunger. It did not take much adjustment.
