paint on bed liner

New owner here, folks. Just like to say that I have enjoyed reading posts in this forum so much the last couple of months that I went out and bought a RTV so I could join in. Now I've got aquestion, has anyone tried the paint on bed liner from the auto part store to protect the floor of the bed from rust? Seems logical to me. I think that's the way I'm going to go. Also, getting ready to do a 50 hour service and I would like to think I can better handle that after reading all the past posts on the surbject.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your RTV!!!

My neighbor uses that bed liner stuff in his pickup. The finish wasn't as nice as having it professionally done but it did seem to work just fine.

I USED THE HECULINER IN MINE WOKRED GREAT. THE BIG THING IS DOING THE PREP WORK AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA.

I waited until I could get the weather right to do this and be outside or at least near the overhead door inside. I got a new bed with very little rust on it, my machine was a dealer demo model with about 35 hours on it. After reading the directions on the can I'll prep as they suggest and then go for it. I don't care about being real pretty as very soon I'll be hauling some stone and wood. I just thought it would be better to do it now instead of waiting and wishing I had addressed it earlier. Thanks for the tip.

I also used the HECULINER in my bed and the floor board --- it work great --- I haul rock and blocks and have not any trouble --- prep work is the key ---bdk</P>

I heard that the paint on bedliner was no more than thick paint. Any truth to this? Does it go on as think as the spray in stuff? Is it durable?

I put on 4 coats with drying time between coats --- I am very hard n my bed and have not chiped it yet --- mine have been on for about a year --- hope this helps ---bdk
