Piston length of dump box cylinder

Happy Thanksgiving all! I'm new to the forum and just picked up a 2004 RTV900. It's got about 1600 hrs on it. The one of a few problems I have is the dump box doesn't seem to be going up high enough. I can't reach the top of the oil tank with the bed raised. I need to know how long the piston ii when fully extended to see if the correct cylinder is installed. Thanks for any help you can give.
 
The rod should extend all the way up until it hits the end. If it seems that it is not going high enough, do you have enough fluid in the reservoir, is the rod bent at the end of it's stroke, or has maybe the previous owner rebuilt the cylinder and put a spacer inside to shorten the stroke of the rod?
 
I was thinking the same about the previous owner, I had it raised to the end of the stroke, and it seemed not to raise high enough. That's why I asked for the length of the piston. thanks for the reply.
 
Sorry about not having dimensions. I can post the single WSM page that Kubota explains disassembly and reassembly, but it doesn't give dimensions. If you measured the length of the cylinder, and then measured the length of the exposed piston at full extend, minus a two to three inches for the end cap gland and the internals, that should give you a close approximation.

I'll do that. But I would like a reference length to go by. The cylinder may be wrong. Thanks for the WSM page.
 
The bed should lift up about 10 inches at the lift-point if that helps. It should give you about 20” of lift at the forward end of the bed.
