Pulling the trigger - side rack

Hi all -

I'm going to the Kubota dealer on Monday 5/12 to hash out a deal on an 1100. I'm including a rear screen and bedliner. Plan to ask dealer to throw in a service manual, and maybe a high air intake. I've been thinking about the high intake though. It may get in the way of a rack I plan to build which would quick-attach on the right side of the vehicle to carry 4x8 sheets of plywood in a vertical position, much like a glass truck carries its large plates of glass. I could also carry long lumber there. </p>

I just did a search on "high air intake 1100" and found plenty of posts that used to have pics, but now the pics aren't there. :-(</p>

My concern is that the high intake would force me to put the rack too far outboard for safe handling. Did the pictures disappear for good?</p>

Thanks,
Doug

Doug,

The OEM Kubota high rise intake is not the only way you can go. Don't have to really go all the way up with the canister. Just put it a little lower would be fine. Might have to cut some off the piping though. Put the canister anywhere but where it's at from the factory !!!!! Personally, when I get myself a 1100 series unit, I going to make mine exactly like another member here has his on his 1100's >>>>>> the members name is jbiglane, he lives on a plantation down the road from here. And his set-up is PERFECT !!!!
But in your case, you might not want to go up as far up as he did. And that way, you can still still get the benefits of a high rise contraption.
Mr. Biglane, had a muffler shop build his piping, and then attached the OEM canister up there. Think I have some pictures, but if I cannot find them, I will go down to his place sometime next week, and get you some photo to show exacly how his is done.
I would not own a RTV without the some sort of high rise intake system. For the place that Kubota put them is not the best in the world. Right behind the cab it just forms a vortex / vacuum of dust / dirt that goes into canister.
From what I understand also, Kubota's new high rise kits for the 1100's don't go up as far as they used to. Think they dropped it down about a inch or so, but still, that is not enough for your situation !!!!

Doug,
This is a picture of the one on the RTV 900 on the back mesh, it don't go that high !!!! Run your piping on the outside going up instead of having the norrowed down
section between the cab like the 1100 kits have ~~~~~~

The response I've gotten from my post brings tears to my eyes. Thank you TwoGuns! I'm not going to worry about pushing for Kubota's high rise kit on Monday. ("The OEM Kubota high rise intake is not the only way you can go.") Once I get my new machine in the garage I can take my time laying out the side rack for 4x8 sheets, figure out the limits on the high intake, and fabricate accordingly.</p>

You can bet that there will be pictures. I owe all you guys so much already.</p>

I didn't mention in my original post, but the most important accessory I'm ordering is a Blizzard plow LT680, thanks to Kubota Technician. This may delay the delivery some, but I want to have the dealer install the plow and electrics before delivering the whole setup.</p>

Thanks again to you all.</p>

River the high rise kit I put on my 1100 leaves the air filter in the stock location and only raises the air intake. It tucks in behind the factory screen very nicely and has a dirt trap on top. The dirt trap comes off with a wing nut for easy cleaning. I'm very happy with the way it works and the filter is staying very clean. It's inside the bracket that holds the screen.</p>

Sounds like a good compromise. Do you have a picture? And what is the manufacturer of the kit? Maybe I'd go that way.</p>

Thanks for your idea.</p>

River it's a factory kubota 1100 acessory. My granddaughter broke my digital camera and I haven't had a chance to replace it yet. Did you decide which dealer your going to buy from yet?</p>

I'm going to Snell's tomorrow, but armed with a quote I got a few weeks ago from Dragoon's, which was around $200 lower. I'm going to ask Snell to throw in a service manual and the 50 hr service. I think he has the room to do that. So, no, I haven't definitely decided yet who to buy from. Thanks for the heads up about Dragoon's. Gary was very knowledgeable. He is trying to get a Blizzard franchise, but as far as I know, hasn't heard back from the company.</p>
