Rails for Bed are done

Rails are done, yet still working on something for the back behind the cab to prevent debris falling on the motor. One of the reasons I did this was also to get rid of the rattle from the tail gate. Diesel's are loud enough but that rattle had to go. I bought this used 2006.

Looks great!

The reason your tailgate rattles is because you are missing the black nylon bushings.

Put those back on and she won't make a peep!

I thought I would slip in and post this since I will be gone for a few days. collie

Are the #020's washers? They call out as spring disks. Looks like #140 are rubber washers. All of these are missing! The previous owner must have removed the tail gate at one time and didn't replace. Thanks again Collie

You are surely welcome. :) The tailgate on my 2011 was sprayed with factory bedliner so it is pretty quiet. The design of it is a little different on it that the 05 I had. ( I found an abandoned calf this morning, so my trip to work on the homeplace is put off a bit.) collie

#180 (gate cap) is a black nylon bushing that slides on each side of the tailgate up at the latch. One is needed for both sides.

I accidentally power washed mine off one time and didn't notice it until I heard the tailgate rattling like old barn steel in the wind.

Lookin good David!!!

I really, really like my headache rack to keep debris off the engine. I've hauled several loads of dirt since adding it with no problems. Also like it when loading wood and am too lazy to take that last couple steps to get close to the load. I just chuck it and let it bounce off the headache rack.

I've also learned that a large load of wood stacked with the tailgate down makes the RTV very, very light in the front when climbing timber hills. To the point that I have backed up several.

All makes good sense! Working on the back this weekend so dirt and debris doesn't fall onto the motor. All great advice boys..love this forum and the generosity of info! :tiphat:

I found the best fix for them even though i still had mine on and it rattled was remove them and made my own from gorilla tape.Quiet and have been on 4 years now and still work great
