Relief Knob

My 08 has one.

I used the snot out of it in the beginning. Then I started fiddling with the cable adjustments. I haven't used it since I did that.

As Collie mentioned, still find myself "bound" a little at times but with patience can resolve it.

Key is firmly applying the brake pedal and hesitate for at least one second, and in some positions two seconds before attempting to shift.

That would absolutely drive me crazy if pushing snow. At the end of 8 hours of pushing imagine how much time has been spent "waiting"....... :(
 
On the newer X series it is called an "unload link" ...it's a cable which runs from the brake pedal to the unloader valve at the rear of the tranny. It should be "just taut" so that when stepping on the brake firmly the spring loaded cam depresses a valve at the rear. See item 30
