RTV 900 not moving

<P mce_keep="true">I own 2006 RTV 900. I had a problem with the transmission when it was still under warranty, when I put it in any forward gear it would go inbackward when idling. When I steped on the gas it would start going foward.I took it to my dealer and they fixed it. Recently it started doing it again. I was going to try and fix it when it all of a sudden quit moving alltogather. Can anybody tell me if I have a major problem or just a simply adjustment.</P>
 
That's a tough one to diagnose remotely.</p>

Have you checked all the linkages to see if they're moving as required? (it's a 2 person job, one to run the pedal and shifter, the other to watch what moves at the tranny).</p>
 
OK, more thoughts.</p>

First, check all the linkages. Assure you're getting proper movement to the tranny.</p>

Check/assure you have the proper amount of tranny fluid.</p>

Have you completed a tranny service (oil and filters) lately? How many hours do you have on this fluid/filters?</p>

After those things, what's left is valves in the tranny that need to be checked. Probably best done by the dealer.</p>

It sounds like your transfer casecould bemisbehaving.It could also be a problem in the linkage or cable to the transfer case.Is the rear driveshaft hooked up?And - there are some reports of rear axle splines getting sheared off whichwould keep the rear wheels from driving. </P>
 
try jacking it up in the rear and see if you are getting
any drive to the rear in two wheel drive. have someone engage
diff. lock pedal and see if you get movement on 1 side. sounds
like you stripped the splines in a hub. Bill B.

</p>Thanks Guys! You were right,the rear right hub splines were stripped. I have got the part coming. This is a very helpful websight.
 
Glad you found the problem. Just curious, what do you think you were doing with your machine when this could of happend ?</P>
