RTV High Mount Air Cleaner Cab Conversion Kit

Thinking about putting a V4273 High Mount Cleaner Conversion Kit on the unit. For it must have to help. Being that even I have only less than 25 hours on mine, Sure is alot of dust just coves in between the cargo box and the cab. Must be a boxed draft there. Just thinking is anyone out there have one installed on there unit, and did it help... and how much the cost of one is. I've yet seen one, but seen it was an on the list of accessories on the Kubota web site. ~~~~THANKS ~~~

Re: RTV High Mount Air Cleaner Cab Conversion Kit

Two Guns, I put one on mine after my 50 hrs because of allofthe dust I was in. I bought the Kubota kit and it was little pricey but it was simple to install. took about 20min to install. Jon

Re: RTV High Mount Air Cleaner Cab Conversion Kit

I think it was around 160 bucks.Mine mounts to the back of the expanded metal and sits under the top. I had the same problem as you. I was blowing out my filter every 5 to 10 hrs. With this I haven't had to anything with the filterat all. I will check and see which one I have tomorrow afterI get off shift and let you asap. It comes with everything you need to do the change over. You dogeta little extra sucking noise because it is behind the passengers head but its alot better then going through filters. Jon

Re: RTV High Mount Air Cleaner Cab Conversion Kit

Thanks Jon,

I appreciate the information, Like yourself, I will not mind spending a little extra to make things better thefor life of the rtv. Also, after you did the 50hr service. could you feel any difference in your unit. I have heard that after you get the break in fluids out of the transmission, it runs even smoother ~~~~

Yesterday, I installed some Hella lights on the front of the steel canopy, and also installed a overhead gun racks in the cab. Everything worked out perfect. I do like the way Kubota made there cabs really high, for the weapons are far enough above you head that doesn't bother you at all. I oversee a plantation on the side, doing the deer plot things pretty well all year round. On the turn rows on the fields get pretty dusty. Does Kubota make a back window for the rtv. Might just come out better just going to pick up some Lexan- Plexiglass and bolt it behind the expanded metal. Maybe later on this year, before winter, I plan on putting a 2" lift kit so it will take the 26" or 27" tires better. Need something to go into the swamps without bottoming out the unit ~~~~

thanks,

Re: RTV High Mount Air Cleaner Cab Conversion Kit

man i need one of those bad i have a new 2007 worksite with haed cab it has 11 hrs on it and the filter was bad blew it out for like ever i believe the cab has somthing to do with the dust hanging around the back more because my 04 rtv never had a cab and it wae not as bad.also my 07 has a lot of dust comeing in around the seat belt holes in the backrest area same place the air intake is.i was looking it seems to me you could use the existing air cleaner with a little plumbing supply and radiator hoses and fabing a brackit for the meatal roof.just a thought but 160.00 isnt to bad .i have the hard cab with the hardacrylic back window .ps not to change the but my 07 worksite with hard cab does not have no were as much power as my 04 recreationone i am not ready for my 50 hr service yet but will let the dealer look at it i figure the hard cab is heaver and added weight or may be the 50 hr service will help but its pretty sick in high and med no were as good as my 04

Kubota Men,

Just got finished talking to a gentlemanafter writing my other post, just by coincidence, he stopped by my house, he also just puchased a 2007 with a hard cab. This is his second RTV, the first one didn't have a cab either. He did say that the dust accumilates more on the cab style than it does on the open cab. He is running two on his farm, and I told him about finding the air conversion kit that was avalible for the units, he said that is fixing to head up to the dealer and order him two, one for each unit .. He also said that the units seem to pull better after you do the first service change. He said that his 2007 model has more power than his '04 model. This is my first RTV, and he was giving me some helpful hints about the way to use the transmission. He says he only uses the High when traveling, and use the medium and low for the pulling and working. He was also telling me about the " only pushing the accelerator half way down" when you get into a bind or pulling up a hill. And I have read this hint before on other post. He also said to be sure to keep the air cleaner extra clean, for if you don't, a clogged up filter will choke down the engine more than you will realize. He said he can always tell when he should have change the filter before heading out, for he will loose power and have to work all day with a weaker unit till he gets back in that evening . Everything he states does make sense .....

I also ment to tell you, I read on this site about taking off the spark arrester and cleaning it out. I did take a look at mine at 15hrs, and mine was already starting to cake up. So I just ripped the screen out on mine and put back the collor on the tail pipe. And I could tell the difference in the power pick-up. Not saying that you also need to remove your sceen, but need to take a look at it. And if nothing else, clean it out really good. I do know it made a differnce on my unit. It makes the engine run alot better and breath better ...... I use my RTV only on the plantation, never going to put it on goverment property, so I didn't need mine. You might want to take a look at the post on the subject, It is very interesting .....

Re: RTV High Mount Air Cleaner Cab Conversion Kit

I bought the 4271 high mount air cleaner kit. It was 166.00 plus tax. I don't have a windshield yet but everything I have read in different treads is that the windshields cause the dust to be sucked back into the cab area. This kitalso changes your air box so you alsoget new filter with it.I know 1 guy around here that just used plexi glass for the back. he took out the expanded metal and mounted the plexi glass back where it came from. I just took out my spark arrester and it was full and that was only 110 hrs.I don't need it any where that I drive.Jon

Re: RTV High Mount Air Cleaner Cab Conversion Kit

the first thing to go before i took it off the trailer new was the spark arrester i blow the cleaner out daily when used but it got so bad i have to replace it after 12 hrs this just does not make sence to me that a first class company would design something this in adiquite. like i said i am going to look at refabing the original one my self.and i practice the half peddle procedure and it helped i hope my first service help with the power in med low range sure can tell a different my 04 is much better

Do you have any pics or know on the net where I may seen some. I am wondering what is the difference is in the V4271 High Mount Cleaner ROPS Kit,
V4272 High Mount Cleaner Cab Kit, & the
V4273 High Mount Air Cleaner Cab Conversion Kit. I purchase my RTV without the hydralic dump bed. and also wonder if thekit will bringthe air intake up high behind the cab or into the cab. Never seen one, just courious. But for sure, I am getting something as soon as the doors open back up at the dealership.

Re: RTV High Mount Air Cleaner Cab Conversion Kit

Two Guns I forgot to also tell you that I checked my air filter the other day just to see how dirty it was and it looks brand new and I put the kit on after my 50 hr service and I now have 110hrs on the filter. Yes part of it through the winter but we haven't had as much rain as normal. Jon
