RTV900 - How Much Slime To Put In Tires

I'm waiting on my RTV to arrive but was wondering how much SLIME I should put in each tire. The SLIME website says 24-32 ounces per tire but I'm seeing folks say they have put in 64 ounces per tire or 2 gallons total. That seems like a lot. I'll be running the OEM Worksite tires. Please advise.:thankyou2:

Hi Archwood, Two Guns can give you the low down on that info.He will be checking in before long. I guess the amount depends on what you encounter with the tires. Down here, we have thorns as big as a..... wellll .. you could build a house with 'em -I'll just say that. bordercollie

1/2 gal. per tire on my 589's >>>
1/2 gal. per tire on the OEM ATV style tires.

Might be a lttle much, but havn't had to walk out of the swamps yet.

Suggestion : >>> I would go no less than 64 oz. per tire ( on the OEM ATV's ) but it is just what is and how much in your area can punch holes in your tires. Down here, we have some big thorns all threw the swamps.
We picked our slime at Harbor Freight Tools

I've got a thorn tree just like that in one corner of my property ... damn things are stronger than nails! Most of my driving will be on turf and hard surface so i'm gonna run the Worksite tires and see how they do. How much cheaper was Harbor Freight on the SLIME? Up here Slime is about $30/gal

thats probably the going price around here too.but look at it this way .when you go ride and then come home to see a little green dot on the tire you'll be thankfull you put it in.because every green dot means if you hadn't have put it in you would have walked home that day. as for the amount i use no less than 18oz per tire that one bottle per tire at the minimum.i have some in my mudlites on my rhino but i don't use it in my outlaw tires because i normally run them with 1 or 2 pounds of air and it would be a waist of money to put them in those tires because they pretty much are run flat tires. when i had my hpx with the 459's i did keep a bottle or more in each tire and i never had a flat had quite a few green dots on them tires after rideing in some locations but i always got home.

..... one does not have to hunt for a thorn tree / bush. It will find you !!!

I guess you can't argue with success! I'll probably toss in atleast 32 ounces and may go with 64 ounces (1/2 gal) per tire as suggested by bordercollie ... just seemed like there wouldn't be enough space left for air or that pressures would be off. (I'm a newbie to this stuff so what do expect! lol!) I know that it can throw off the balance at high speed and since the RTV's are known for their pavement cooking abilities I had some concerns! (just kidding!!!)

Other than your pocket book, and every now and then you will see a " green dot " on your tire showing you that it just saved you a long walk. You will never know or feel it in there !!!!

Two Guns is right .It saves many walks out of the woods. I love that slime too. I run over lemon trees a lot and those thorns are terrible- also have the bodac trees with thorns and then the locust trees.. I started with a quart per tire. I went through tires fast. With my high hrs on the '05 RTV, I went with the low amount to begin with. Then though , I was spraying thorn covered lemon trees and had one puncture my rear sidewall. I looked like I was out of luck because the hole was huge and long. The slime would creep out when the puncture was at the six o'clock position and so I decided to add more slime and plug the hole with a large size plug. The slime binded to the plug and stopped the leak completely. I talked about it on the forum here when it occured but the slime saved me buying a tire because either one alone wouldn't have plugged such a big hole. I love that stuff. boordercollie
