RTV900 Hydraulic Bed Lift

'I see the light'

I just had another go at figuring out the float position on my RTV and I am pleased to report that it does have that function....It was just never used in it's 10 years of existence. The previous owner and then myself never knew it was there. Had to really come onto it to get it to work...Wouldn't be surprised that there are a few others out there as dumb as me...Duh!

I join the club. I took my time this go around and pushed the lever past the stop position. The groaning stopped and went into float. no problem. collie

For me, I found this out when I finally figured out how to raise up the bed without the engine running. Burned me up for years not knowing, as I would start the engine, raise the bed, and then wait awhile to get a good reading on the oil level of the engine...........

Instead, was watching some Kubota sales video a couple of years ago and the guy showed to push the lever all the way down hard, and wah freaking lah, one could raise the bed by hand and not have to overcome the hydraulics.............Anyway, most probably know this; but for me it was something good.........God bless.....Dennis

Now that we've figured out that there really is a float position for the hydraulic control, I feel the need to take the conversation back to the original topic......

Kaos, What was the 'minor hydraulic line issue' that you found causing the problem? Your discovery might help one of us in the future if we face the same symptoms.

Oops. Meant to post my update.

My float position is working again. I just wasn't pushing the lever down hard enough. It does take a good amount to get past that detent.

rgm, you were right on your suggestion to check the lines. Although the couplings appeared to be connected properly, one was not seated all the way and when I pulled on them it disconnected. I connected it back properly and then checked the lift. It worked!
Thanks again for your help.

Kaos,

The same thing happened to me this past winter with the gas line to my BBQ that's hooked to Natural Gas. I was ready to throw out the grill when I bumped the hose and it came apart!

Good luck with your new RTV and don't forget to post pictures when you get it home.
