Sears suburban 12

I bought a 1967 sears suburban 12, for 60 bucks, all hi and low forward gears work, but reverse is out in hi and low, if you push it, like your trying to put into gear further to the right then it grinds real hard, but if it's just in reverse it whines and just gets louder the longer you leave it in gear, don't make much sense to me sense this is my first sears, and first ever time messing with a peerless transaxle

Any help appreciated In advance

Sounds like you need to pull the transaxle and crack it open. Train the fluid first and see how much sparkly stuff and/or metal chunks is in your oil.

The oil is pretty much a milk shake, ill pick up some oil for it, what would you recommend?
Changing the transaxle oil isn't going to fix your problem you described. You need to remove the transaxle, drain the fluid from it and open it up. You have at a minimum, a gear failure inside of it somewhere. If it has been run with water and metal contamination in it, you will probably need bushings and bearings, also. Fix that issue first, provided you can still get parts for it, then put the manufacturers recommended gear oil back in it.

Your unit was made By Roper, for Sears. You might get lucky and find a collector that may have the gears or a complete transaxle for it somewhere.

Probably don't even need a collector. I'm guessing those things made by Roper were sold by the tens of thousands (or more) under several brand names. I'd check craigslist or facebook marketplace in your area.
