Seat time

Always thought there should be a catagory for SEAT TIME. I am in the big middle of remodeling my kitchen and found the bucket a dang handy place to put the debris. I would haul the wood up the hill anf burn it in a pit I dug using my BH, and they said i wouldnt need the tractor to remodel the kitchen . :yum:

Oh it's amazing the odd uses that a tractor with FEL and BH can be put to! Scaring the neighbor kids is my all-time favorite! Crushing old TV sets (to avoid the town's insane TV set disposal fee) comes in a close second.

I was going to straighten an entire two-floor section of my GF's condo with it... but she never gave me the go-ahead. :(

:yum: :thumb: I can relate. Once or twice a year I clean out the garage and load the keepers into the FEL to transport to he pole building.

Today I braved single digits to dig some logs out of the snow so I can mill some more purlins, but the oddest use I can think of at the moment was bracing a hammer drill against the bucket to drill into ledge to make holes for betonimite. Dougster was asking about NH granite just the other day and here some is. ANy who I would set this up and go get a cup of coffee (not sure if this qualifies as seat time)and come back and the hole would be done..Rinse repeat.

I believe that is called cheating!!! :yankchain:

What is your secret to getting that Betonamit stuff to work? I tried that stuff... albeit another brand... and got almost nowhere with it.

DOugster,

I got next to nowhere with my experiment also, but alot of dirt guys up here swear by it. I think there are a few steps that help to make it work
1) Have someone else buy it, it is expensive and you need ALOT, but just tell them it is cheaper than blasting.
2) Rent a ROCK drill and the compresser to drive it, again remind client that is cheaper than blasting
3) drill alot of holes along your desired fracture line as deep as possible angled per manufactures directions
4)mix it up and pour it in per manufacturers directions rembering ALOTgoes a LITTLE way
5) put a board over it and tell every one to stay away and go home for the day
6) show up the next day and inform client that their going to have to change their plans or blast afterall.

Sounds like we had about the same degree of luck with it... i.e., none! What a complete waste of time and money. :bangin:

Thank God for the local hydraulic rock splitter guys. :) Quick, cheap, and highly effective! :thumb: Oh yeah... noisy and dusty too! ;)

Dougster,

One thing neat about it, Like Hilti, it is the prodct of LIchtenstein, once hat novelty wears off though I was unimpressed. Feathers and wedges for me next time. I dont beleive I have hydraulic rock guys around. In my case I just built the ledge into my basement...my own (not so little) rock of Gibralter!

Sometimes you've got to do that. I have a potential client a few miles up the road who may have to do the same thing come spring for a garage footing.

Feathers & wedges worked well for me except that I could only find 3/4" (diam. of hole) max around here. Little buggers. Above that was special order only and a 1-week wait. They worked well chipping off the tops of some large buried rocks provided you used enough of them... but next time I'm putting in the order ahead of time for some much larger sets.
