slipping

Finally got some more time to mess with it. Took everything out of the bed, so I can raise it and see better. Looks like the Right side brake cylinder is not retracting like the left. I thought aha!! So I unhooked the linkage thinking I could run it till we get the part. Nope, now the brake is all on and can barely move the tires. I gotta cool down before more investigating. Kinda tough by myself....I need a pedal pusher.

Well scratch all my ideas about this things problem. I was focused more on the left side than the right. As it turns out the outside splines are stripped and the hub is all worn smooth. So you guys were right. with everything moving the way they were it just didn't seem like a spline. Thanks again everyone. The brake cylinder is faulty also. The linkage needed adjusting as it was a little short and was pulling the brake arm about 3/8".

sorry for your troubles. you aught to look into a coast valve. I love mine and it made the shifting much easier too. took longer to get the tools out than it did to install it.

Isn't there a "dump valve' that can be adjusted to solve that problem? I thought I read it somewhere. I'll look into that. Thanks

yes there is a procedure to adjust the valve. after quite a lot of research i opted to just go ahead and purchase the coast valve instead because there was discussion that adjusting the valve could cause cavitation. i can tell you that the coast valve purchased from the original developer on Ebay works great.

Bearing

After digging in deeper I found that the outer bearing on the pivot shaft (outer most shaft) was seized up. This was causing the symptom of a brake hanging up. with all that weight in the back the shaft couldn't turn with the tire so it stripped out the splines in the hub, thereby damaging the splines on the shaft....something like that. Thanks for all your help guys
