Got this one yesterday....
Got bit back in 1980 by a cottonmouth, like to have killed me.
Still not scared of them, but don't want to go threw that again. I can spot one
a mile away.
This rattler was just waiting.

OH WELL, The 1911 took care of that !!!! Ruined his day !!!!

Atta boy BUD...........For me, the poisonous rattle snakes and copperheads around here are fair game...........ALL the others are treasured for working down the rodent in the pasture population. Better them going after them than the dogs, who dig bomb craters for you to stumble or fall into...........What has happened to all the raptors and owls.......NOTHING here.....Rare day to see a hawk soaring.......Haven't heard an owl in several years.........
One of our LGD, livestock guard dogs, got bit on the jaw last year by a timber rattler. Almost lost her. Her face swolled up the size of a watermelon. Now, all of our dogs are vaccinated for them. The eye on that side of her face is going dry the last couple of months. Bet she looses that eye...........Anyway
Glad that 1911 is primed, carried, and ready to rock and roll........God bless BUD......Dennis

When I was about 10 we had a dog get bit by a moccasin, like ya said his head swole up like a basketball. 2nd time he got bit, just a little swelling. That dog would actually hunt a moccasin to kill. Fastest way to get him to come was holler "SNAKE!"

And yea, I've also gotten where if I go outta the house, there is about a 98% chance I have some lead with me ready to get hot.

Love a Colt. Nothing like a Colt. They are the original.
Been collecting them all my life.
Just like the AR-15 / M-16 rifles.
They have so many other companies that market that style of rifle.
BUT, COLT is the one I want in my hands.

The extra, we call them magazines ...

Glad there is no snakes around here...The one you pictured I would not even seen it till it was to late. Then again no reason to look for any.
I never survive were you live.

I have a Glock 45...but for that snake I would use my 6 inch 500 Smith & Wesson.

Just because it was playing sneaky.....I really am afraid of snakes myself.

Been about 3 years ago...went out the door and about a 2 foot gardner snake was waiting by the door.

Got my ez reachers and move him into the ditch were he belongs.

We are so lucky in WINN Parish LA.
We have the Rattle-less-Rattlesnake
A man Killed five foot five inch rattler in his yard
it had no rattles. Experts from ARIZONA and
across the US have theorized that snakes are
starting to evolve to the point where they are losing
their rattle, and that could mean trouble for
outside activities. Info from local paper.

Yes, this was sent to me this week from someone that also found it in a paper in somewhere, and it stated Winn Parish.

Yes you would. After you get bit the first time. You can spot them in your sleep !!!

It’s like poison oak. When I was a kid I was oblivious to its presence. After breaking out bad a few times I can spot that devil weed from miles away.
