Temperature increase

Hi Friends, Have any of ya'll noticed a temperature increase after changing to larger tires? I have replaced the trans, oil and air filters. Radiator is clean. Blown and washed. The machine's not running hot but definitely higher than before the change.[05 model] There is no blockage in the air intake. The fan kicks in and she cools down quickly..antifreeze is good but is 50 /50 .premix distilled. On my 05 guage, The needle would only move when I"speeding" up a hill before I changed tires, now it moves up to the te in temp when stressed . The fan does bring it down.Does not get on the red. Just curious, I would value all opinions. Thanks, I just don't want to overlook anything. Thanks again, Bordercollie[&][&]

noticed the same thing when I went to 27" tires. Mine did get close to over heating the other day. Turns out the radiator fins were clogged with dried grass. The grass seeds and leaves had lodged in the radiator fins behind the radiator screen. I remedied this with a garden hose and nossle. I might try to place a piece of foam rubber between the radiator sreen and the top of the radiator to help prevent the fins themselves from getting getting clogged.

All of 'em do it . Not just the RTV's, but anything else you put larger tires on will do it. Rest your mind, as long as the fan is cycling, your good to go. Must I stress though, always keep your radiator clean. Mine being a newer model, mine has always got my attention for the newer style guage, but it took me awhile to understand, that it was running normal. Even when I put mine into deeper mud & more stressful than normal, the temp on the guageslowly crawl up, but not to hot, but closer to the red, and then the fan kicks in and so quickly will the temp fall .....

You will also notice, that your RTV will run so much better at a little higher temp. But as long as the fan is cycling, and your not running into the red, run your machine with a smile, for your doing just fine........

Thanks Muffler Man and Two Guns!! I was hoping that would be the answer. I will indeed sleep easier tonight. The cooling fan does it job and this afternoon I could see when it came on. I was cruising down the road at 25 mph andcould see the needle rise and fall back down to near normal when it came on.. I will try a piece of foam around that metal screen and am sure it will help. Our JD7420 has a window screen type and it helps a ton ... I wonder....OurJD7210 doesn't and it is obvious. That was just a thought.I knewI could count on my friends at RTV owners group. Thanks, Bordercollie[&]

Be sure not to restrict to much air flow with the foam. You want the air to flow really freely into the flums of the radiator ~~~~~ If you do the foam thing, keep a good close eye on the temp guage, and make sure it is not restricted to much, andthe temp act the same as it does without the foam ....... Might just be easier to keep the screen clean *****

the foam rubber I referred to was going to be placed along the top ridge of the radiator and the screen. This should make the screen catch all the grass etc that might come thru..
