The Boat and the Tree

TWO GUNS

.... well, we had a little storm come threw. Small tornado damages a rooftops, barns, sheds, and trees. Nobody hurt.
But this little jewel takes the cake. This is where to tornado was.....We have a nice camp thirty six miles from home. Cozy little place. Quite and has a beautiful lake full of fish, frogs, and gators. Heaven sent. Our neighbors camp down the gravel road, elderly coonass gentleman has a very nice place set back. He has several boats, and many other nice things around his place. This old boat, which he uses in September to catch a few gators with, was sitting in the middle of many other things. ( Like a $49,000 bass boat, Utility vehicles, Tractors, Air Boat, $190,000 motor home to mention a few) Wind didn't touch or even move anything else. But took his old boat and picked it up carried all the way down the road to our place, and smashed it against a small oak in the front. Didn't even move the umbrella on the picnic table. That to me, is amazing.
The man told me he wished it would have taken the bass boat instead, the old aluminum boat has many old, but good memories >>>>

My Dad told me about one that came thru while he was growing up. The picture pump was un-screwed off the well, they never did find it. The house lost the roof, but the stack of newspapers on the front porch was all still there.

Yep, they are amazing!!!

..... some of the mysteries that them storms brings, kinda gives one a errie feeling.

There is some strange things happen., that is for sure >>>>

The one that hit 3 miles from me last Sunday night carried a big piece of the rubber roof off the elementary school a good 5 miles up the main road and left it hanging about 30 ft. up in a tree. That was an F1 with about 100mph winds and it tore the town all up. They are still cutting wood a week later from all the big old trees it tore down. My neighboring farm has a child's sled from 4 miles away up in his tree since February and it is still there. The boy it belonged to spotted it from the school bus and him and his dad looked it over and decided it is now a permanent wind gauge. If it ever comes down you know it was a bad wind!

After the storm that chained up through Tuscaloosa and then Birmingham and then on over here last month I was cleaning up the yard and found several pictures and some stuff we could identify from over in Gadsden and west of there. That's maybe 60 miles.

Today out in the garden I found a part of a check with a name/signature we could make out on it to a lady between Birmingham and Gadsden. My wife plugged in the name to someplace on facebook and there was the lady that we found a picture of in the yard. Wife called her and they had a good cry. She had lost everything. House totally gone. The picture is of her sitting on her daddy's lap. In the pic she is in her 50's and he is older than me......an old coot......anyway he has passed on now........They had the best ol cry together...........

God is strange sometimes on how he gives and takes away.....His will, not mine....Dennis

UREDNECKU.....Just out of curiosity..What is a 'picture pump"?

Jamie,

I thought your boats down there were "tree-proof". Up here, we don't have trees growing in our waterways but that seems common down there in your swamps. I kind of thought y'all had tree protectors built into your swamp boats.

Just kidding. Sorry to hear about his boat.

we finally got some rain down here. i sure hope we don't start getting them twisters. them things are funny the way they can move a bucket from one yard and leave a table standing right next to it..
