those of you that have BX tires on ur RTV!HELP!!

Don't know if it relates or not with this particular thread, but I delt with 2 dealers, one I wanted to deal with primarily because he was closer, but used the other to get the price I wanted to be out by shopping both, but both dealers offered me the 4 choices of tires to chose from that are pictured in the RTV brochures. All are 6 ply, except the turf tire which is 4 ply. 6 ply would be the general purpose knobby, the worksite HDWS, (heavy duty worksite), and the recreational, (ATV).

Hi Hammerhead, No Lemons other than those in the store. No thorns, BXs would not like thorns. Clay and rolling hills here. Hope I don't jinks myself, no flat on farm equip tires in 27 yrs. Snow in woods now down to 1 to 2 feet of mealy snow. The BXs work ok, not stuck yet but have had some close calls. The serious back woods goers have Max Tracks on their RTVs $7,000. I can't justify the expense.

I'm confused. I think people are thinking that BX tires are bigger than they are. They are 25 1/2" tall. That means they are 1/4" taller than stock above axle. When you over load and bottom out the suspension with stock tires is there no clearance left? My guess there is still considerable room. Has any one out there been able to bottom BXs? With all the people on this site and on the other I have seen no one who has owned a pair say they do that. They are 12" wide. Same width as the stock turf tires. I know that the golf courses work the daylites out of those with no rubbing. Is anyone out there rubbing their turfs? Big horns and other large ATV aggressives need lift kits, I chose BXs because I didn't want to put a lift kit on. I will be the first to tell you that aggressives will give better traction than my BXs. They go further and get stuck harder as my dad used to say. But my aggs won't tear up the wife's lawn! I place BXs 3/4 way between ATVs and stock worksites, being closer to ATVs. As I find there weaknesses I'll post.

Hammerhead, we got 3/4" of ice the last storm down here in the sunny south, how did you do up north? By the way, BXs have poor traction on sheet ice!

I doubt that the BX tire will EVER rub >>>>> For my 27" 589 M/S tires are actually 27 1/2" tall (9" FRONT & 11" BACK, and still have room ) !!! And I have NO lift on my machine, and they never have rubbed yet. And used them religiously in the woods & swamps down here, and has loaded the heck out this RTV ~~~ They do serve their purpose well ~~

That being said, still have the OEM Kubota ATV tires & rims that came on my machine, but still thinking I may want to purchase a set of BX & orange rims for the use in the " off " months. That way I will still have some great tires, more aggressive than the ATV's, but not aggresssive as the 589's.... something like a in between set. That will put it in just where I need to be in the off months, still having a tire that will pull better, but not wearing out my 589's that really only has to be used during the horrible months in the swamps .....

After looking at our RTV with the bigger tires, I don't know if I will like installing the original ATV tires and rims back on. Got used to the way this other tires look. And the other day, while at my dealers place pickin' out a tractor, took a look over at the RTV's , and thought >>>>" damn, do I want to put my " mickey mouse " tires back on ? Nothing at all wrong with the OEM tires, but once you get used to the looks of the other tires, it's hard to go back !!!!

Thanks EZchair: The bx tires look huge. I know they are only 1/2 taller than stock,It is the little bit taller.... combined with the width, that seems to be the concern. My stock turf tires are 12" wide but only 23 tall.

I guess not knowing for those that have rubbing, exactly where they are rubbing.. does not help. Jamie's 27's don't rub but they are only 9" wide. From photo's I have seen the Bighorns while they may be 11" wide that have a rounder profile tire, and the bxs look quite square.

I have a kubota B7500 with the industrial tires... would you say the bx tires are more vulnerable to thorns than them?

On the trees and such we only got maybe 1/8" of ice...nothing serious. The driveways and such is still a mess though.. with the snow and rain and ice.. what fell froze to a solid block.

Maybe it would help for me to check other forums.. I think you are the first that I know of..first hand that has used them. Anything else I have seen here.. are photo's from elsware of not anyone they knew... or a so and so said that so and so said. No other actualy users.

Do you know if you dealer has other bx tires to get rid of?

Tracks sound interesting. It would be nice to use the RTV to groom my xc ski trails.. but It is a lot of money. I have also recently heard of troubles from using them. My sales person was telling me the Dealer in Dixfield [who has sold 7 sets of tracks] will not sell anymore. They have had troubles with the Kubota hubs not holding up to the extra stress. I know at least some of the situations it has been those that are dragging snowmoble trail groomers. Some have failed within the warranty period. Kubota won't cover it..because the hubs are failing due to after market parts.. and Maxxis won't do anything because it is the Kubota parts that are failing.

EZ should know about 'em BX tires. He test firing them everyday for everybody !!!

After seeing his, I seriously thinking about purchasing a set for the swapping them out ~~~~

Thanks EZ, think I'm fixin' to drop so more money for the RTV ..... Really like them BX's ( and them beautiful orange rims )

If not mistaken, Kubota dealers sell the BX tires & rims as a combo set.... From talking to dealers, they sell the others as sets only >>>>>>

Wescotts in Gorham put the last set of BXs on his own personal machine. Hard to find because dealers are ordering them in with industrials or turf.

Wescotts has a set of used tracks off an RTV used for grooming $5000. I hear that the snowmobile groomers have had some problem, seems they run the groomers very agressive. Traction though has been the complaint. They want a locking front diff. Hey I would like one too! Bet you'ld break something with one of those!!
BC, Haven't been able to get mine to rub, up, down, left or right, hard stop. Nothing, I was going to put the optional front springs but haven't needed them. Don't know if they would hit if I jumped theRTV. But I'm like Two Guns, I don't think we should be jumping them. Where are yours hitting? Do you have cab, I don't. Maybe that's the difference. If you have cab, do you have the optional front springs?
The only time/place I could get mine to rub was when:
Load the cargo box full (probably 1000#).
Go down a steep hill.
Turn fully into a hairpin turn.
I would get a slight rub on the inside tire.

That said, I probably could have skipped installing the lift kit and just not turned as sharp. Now that I have the turn limit stops installed, there's a possibility it would never rub.

For anyone getting the BX tires from the dealer, buy them from the sales dept (not parts). They can be sold as wholegoods and are cheaper buying from sales.
