TIRE FOR TWO GUNS

BX Tire up close.

1. Size 26x12x12 Bar is 1/2" deep in center, 5/8" deep on traction edge, bars are 7/8" wide, 2 1/2"

between bars, 12" across the bars.

Important Note: These are the Agricultural Tires, NOT the Industrials! Industials have wider bars, less space between bars, and square sides that cut aggressively when turned.

Agrucultural tires are designed to have traction in low adhesion soils with minimum compaction to the soil. Sides are rounded to cut soils less. Perfict application for RTV.

Draw back: These tires are not designed to go 40mph. These tires are designed to be flexable and run at low pressures if a wider footprint is desired to go in mud. Thus at high speed they would "warp". Would not put them on a Ranger. Wait, I have an RTV, Top speed 25mph! Still perfect tire.

Hard pack, rock, concrete, aphalt, not your tire, will ware bars off quickly this is an off road soft soil tire.

2. Kubota dealers have these kicking around as they are quite often taken off BX tractors and replaced with Turf tires for lawn mowing. If dealer has them they are going to want to get rid of them. Not a lot of call for them on small tractors. Some dealers only spec Industial or Turf treads now.

3. Comes as a wheel and tire combo. Direct fit on RTV. No clearance problems. 5-Bolt pattern (2007), in an other strand they were talking about 4-Bolt pattern. Were early RTV's 4-Bolt?

I really believe this is the answer to folks purchasing a RTV that wants a " better tire "than the ATV tire set-up, and this set-up would be a great negotiation block for a new buyer to hit the dealer with. Them rims is just the thing for the orange RTV's .... That wide track is great, and will be a big plus on many applications for many folks !!! Going to pass this along to others locally that's fixin to purchase a RTV ......

What's so great about this, is it is aggressive tire, and folks that don't need / or want the " Big Teeth " tires as the 589's. And don't want to spend all their accessories money, this is the answer.

Thanks for the post , this is going to help many new buyers from the start !!!! [:O]

What is the actual height of the tire, reason for asking, my 27" tires are actually 27 1/2" tall >>>>

Didn't know if they were the same way. If you can, Please take a photo of the tires, showing how far they stick out the side of the unit ~~~~

Are the tires shown in the picture the tires that dealers have off of the BX Tractor? I would sure like to have a second set for winter snow in Montana and run my Work Site standard tires for summer. Our ground is so hard packed with sharp rocks that I need the industrial type tires. I have them on my L2800 Kubota Tractor.

Anyone know a dealer that wants to get rid of a set at a good price I would like to know. I do not have any idea of the price on tires since I have not looked for any yet.

Yes, stock Kubota BX Aggurcultural tire. Did not price new. My dealer had "Take-Offs", swapped my worksites when I got RTV.

Don't quote me but I think they're in the $80-110 range for a tire and rim.

ez chair have your driven your RTV with weight in it yet. Those tires look interesting, I would just worry about rubbing with some suspension compression.

Not speaking for ez chair,

But he states that his actual tire size is

25 1/2" tall. Front 3/4" inside fender, Rear 1/2" inside fender

I would bet anything that he will never have any suspension compression troubles as far as rubbing , for the tires I'm running is actuall 27 1/2 inches tall, and the rear tires stick out very, very little past the plastic splash guard. We have had our RTV loaded down like the devil, don't know the true weight, but really loaded. And we have never had any rubbing what so ever. So I would say, he will never have that problem at all., if anybody would, we would for sure !!!!

I would say, ez chair is in the safe zone ~~~~

Just thought I'd throw that in ~~~~~ hope it helps on your question ~~~~~~

I was more worried about the width. 12" wide up front combined withit being a little taller.

They do look interesting. I do not know about their weight limits. I was thinking they were carlisle tires.. Carlisle does have similar tires.. with limits of 1780.. all the way through to 3110.

I wonder if these would these work with the stock RTV rims?

Glenn,

I don't think so. AFAIK, fitting a 12" wide tire on a 10" wide rim won't work. I've heard on cars, you can vary the width by about 1/3".

PS, the price of getting it already on the rim is probably close to the $ required to do the mounting a couple times. Personally, I keep 2 sets of tires/rims and then never have to do any re-mounting.

Thanks, Two Guns

Couldn't have said it better. Also if you check I think if you had ordered the Turf tires that come on the Turf Utility they are 25x12x12 with a height of 25 1/2".The offset of the BX wheel keeps them under the fender.

There are many vehicles that can take various width tires on the same rim. Cars, motorcycles, bicycles.

The RTVs come stock with various tires..and from what I have been told, allwiththe same rim. They come with10, 10.5,11 and 12 inch width. I was worried about off set differences, or something like that.

If I was buying the stock bx tires.. I would need to buy the wheels. I don't think my dealer has any take offs. I know I could order new... but I am thinking about buying carlisle tires somewhere else.

There is an earlier thread where Boondox shared that someone had ruined a bx tire, and Messickfarmequ. says he does not think the sidewalls are tuff enough. Carlisle has some heavier duty versions of these tires.

I also don't see ever putting my other tires back on. Mine came with 23 inch turf tires[:(]

hmm as an added note I just noticed on the Carlisle site.. they have 4 different 26-12-12 tires that fit an 8.5" rim [they have 4, 6,8, or 10 plys available] but they have another 26-12-12 tire designed for a 10.5" width rim.

Well, it shows how little I know... I was told you could vary the width on a car tire by one size.
Example:
OEM = 165/70-R15
The 165 is the width in mm, right? I heard you could only vary that by 10 making your viable choices:
155/70-R15
175/70-R15

I used the 10mm to say 1/3".

I don't recall Boondox's thread about tire failure using BX tires. Although the BX weighs less than the RTV, once something is on the 3PH, the weight is similar. I do see by zooming in on ez chair's first pic (at the 10:00 position) that they are 4-ply instead of the RTV's 6-ply so I do now see how they're not quite as strong.

I don't know the specific lee way in car or motorcycle tires.. I just know there is some.

In bicycles there can be a lot, but there are no specifics. It depends on what wheels you are talking about and what tires you want to use.

What is unclear in Boondox's thread was if there was perhaps something that caused the tired to loose air first.. then the tire was ruined... or was the tire overloaded being in the RTV.. and failed.???

Won't a fully loaded RTV weigh a bit more than a bx even with it's capacity on the 3 point? hmm I just looked it up.. the bx 24is 1542#'s 3point will lift 670 and the front bucket will hold 518.. thats 2730#'s the RTV weight and payload@ 3570..that is a bit of difference, but no where near the difference than what some are doing with some ATV tires...

In the Carlisle version of this tire.. the 4 ply tire has a weight limit of 1780, the 6 ply 2250

I don't know how much the vehicles speed affects things. The RTV will go 25 not 40.. but he specs on the Carlisle are based on 10mph.. I have never really seen weight limits based on speed?... so I don't know?

Hmmm, who wants to be the first to get and try "Z" rated tires?

A bit off subject but speaking of speed-rated tires, I went to get new tires on Mrs. Zoom's car. They wouldn't sell me anything under "H" rated tires and said they would prefer if I got "V" rated. I asked how fast they thought she drove to work. They said it doesn't matter. It's based on the cars maximum speed.
