tires

As you know I have been trying to decide what I want to put for tires on my RTV. I seem to change my mind about every 5 minutes. The tire that has peaked my interest now....is the ITP TerraCross RT.

It really looks like a nice tire for my applications. I have not heard of them mentioned here on the forum. Is there anyone using them, or anyone with any knowledge or experience with them. All Terrain online stocks them.

thanks

Might be good for wet sand ~~~ Bee really good on a golf course ~~~~~~

Did they ever start making the 12" size ?

at one time , they were only stocking 14" !!!

Jamie, I knew it would not be a good choice for what you do. Yes they have them available in a 12" size, yet the site seems to reccoment the 14.? although I am not sure why.

it looks like it would give good float.. not fill in with clay as quickly as the Bighorn.. more aggressive than the 489 tread types.. and it has...hm I forget but it is load rated for [I think] 1000 pounds.

Is the 14" the height of the wheel? what differences would different sizes there make?

I can see overal height differences.. and widths.. but a taller wheel? why?

The reason the statement was made about the 12" size, was the current catalog I have in front of me say " coming soon " ~~ 12" ............. Looked like all they had to sell was the 14" >>>>>>>>

Now, what a person needs to know ( if he plans on getting off the grass or stepping off the road at all ), that the RTV's don't spin there tires really quick, like a pick-uptruck or something like that. They are slower moving like a tractor or should I say, just a slower moving vehicle or equipment...... . ( hope this makes sense ). So WHATEVER tire one gets, it needs to "cleans itself out", when it comes to the RTV's, that why many tractor style tread are on slower machines. Look at the style Kubota has on their ATV style tires. Reason for the tread style, is for it to clean itself out by the rotation, not by slingging it out like some tires.... Not saying that other style treads are not good, they just will not clean themselves out unless they are rotated really fast, or they go running down a road at a faster speed where there is no more mud to catch up.Like a black-top road. That's why some tires will " slick over " and not give one any traction, for it is so clogged up, it cannot grip the ground. Thedepth of the tread style is not always the case, it the way the tread style is produced, is what makes the differance. or should I say, the angle of the tread. Yes, the deeper the tread is good, but if the angle is not right in certain applications. Your just spinning your wheels !!!!

If you have noticed in the last few years, many tractor manufactures or putting on the same tread, which will still clean themselves out, but not as aggessive with the deeper lugs ~~~~~

Your were asking about the 14" wheel size, might be some companys put 14" wheels on their machines. Were is, Kubota uses 12" on their RTV's >>>>> That company might trying to cover all the wheels for most makes and model of utility vehicles >>>>>>>>>>

Part of the reason tractor tires are a bit shallower tread with wider traction bars is because of the shift in the market place. Tractors are not being sought as much for farm/ag use, and are increasingly used in "on road" industrial applications. This is particularly true of Kubotas, since they are marketed to far more applications than say Case IH, or Deere. However, if you were to look at Deere's line of industrial equipment compared to the ag line, you'd see the difference in tires there as well.
