I have been looking at some of the track systems for one of our RTV's. Has anybody had any expierence with them in the mud? Do they have tensioners for when the track gets loose like on a dozer? This machine is used for forestry upkeep and I don't want to be stuck with a slung track in the middle of a section of woods that we are Rx burning. I also have to haul around about 50 galons of water, burn fuel, and torches. Will the tracks affect my cargo weight?

I have Soucy tracks on my in the winter month. The weight of them did not effect my load weight as I can see. These tracks weigh around 900 lbs. On mine I have to set the tension. They are not self tightening.

How much poewer did you lose when you put them on and how much more ground clearence do they give you?

I don't know about power lose but I do know that it cut my speed down by 30%. I don't know how much actual clearence but I do know that the step is 23" from a flat surface to the floor board. I will see what I can find for pic's and post some later on. I use it for hualing maple sap and we haul 125 gallons per run + 2 people and related equipment

As stated you will lose about 25-30% speed, but you also gain a lower ratio in high range allowing for more torque. I usually deal with Mattracks(first/second gen) but make sure you look at the specs of the tracks you are interested in and they are UTV rated.

The weight is really not that much of a factor because you are neither hauling it, nor towing it, it's on the ground, and the reduction and drive is actually driving them.

Another note is that the ground clearance is phenomenal and you can't beat the floatation.

My RTV 900 in her work clothes. That is 125 gallon tank on her.

That demo model looks like the front struts have been pound out, might be time for some heavy duty coils springs to lift that front end up. Coils are usually put in with a heavy cab and/or when a blade is attached to the front.

I am sorry but I do not have the techinal expetise that you do. All I know is they work and work very well. I am retired and I make maple syrup which I am an expert at.

You will have to talk with Soucy track about that issue.

Nothing to be sorry about, just stating some information,.. I am not too fond of the Mattracks when they are used for recreational purposes or are required to perform beyond there abilities. They have a tendency to pivot to extremes and tear plastic and metal up.

Thanks for your input. Those are good looking machines.
Any idea on the amount of hours they last? How is the front end about scrubbing?

I know I am going to get slammed for this statement BUT it is my opinion that Mattacks are for sissys. When the going gets tough turn to Soucy tracks.

Have to agree, much more aggressive tracks with chevron design and they tend to dissipate the material to the sides.

I am always in the snow with these tracks and when cruising along in Medium range the snow flys away like it was being plowed.

Will the soucy st-110 track made for the rtv 1100 fit and run on the rtv 900? I've found some used, Thanks

One question: do these tracks interfer with the snow plow? I use my 1100 for plowing in the winter and it looks like they extend to the front too far.
