Transmission Problem

I have a 2005 RTV with 600 hours on it that is having transmission issues. I returned it to the dealer for this issue and they replaced the three plates in the transmission. When I picked it up it still had the same issue. The transmission is definitly sliding in no matter what gear I use, the motor revs up fine and then the transmission begins to slide in, it also has lost its hydraulic braking side to.</P>


I picked up a 2008 RTV SE three weeks ago and there is definitly a huge difference. I expected some difference between the old one and the new but not by this much. Has anyone experinced a problem similar.</P>
 
See if you can find this posting "CHECK THE Transmission Pressure Relief / Shift Assist" . It was from Jan 30, 2008 and is about 7 pages back. Sounds like your issue.
 
We have 2004 rtv and we also have a 1100 rtv and their WAS a major difference in torque between the two units(the 1100 pulled better).</P>


We found out by reading the shop manuals for both units that the high pressure valve on the 1100 operated at a higher pressure than our high pressure valve on the2004 rtv. Our dealer told us that all new 900 rtv have the 1100 valve so your new 900 should have the valve. Our dealer also told us that we could replace our 900 high pressure valve with the 1100 high pressure valve.</P>


We installed the valve yesterday and it improved the operaation of the 2004 rtv noticeable. I feel it increased the torque and top end speed. TWO GUN drove it this afternoon . We have not had time to test it yet but seems like it works.</P>

<P mce_keep="true">Part cost about $170.00. You remove one large plug with large allen wrench. You then remove part and use small magnet to remove spring. You then put part in and replace plug. It took at the most 10 minutes</P>
