Weather in NE

I have Verizon dialup :pat: . There is a saying out here in rural MA. "When you got phone problems :shitHitsFan: Verizon is over the horizon." . To their defense I will add that they did replace some junction box on a road line and I have a 45.2 Kbps baude(?) rate once I started complaining.

As to cell phone service cows will talk before I do on a cell phone here. I am still waiting:waiting: for our gov to "prove" he is serious about improving/expanding telecommunications in western MA.

Weather charts, agency discussion, and data chatter is starting to make me crazy again regarding this pending weather event. I am not a sports person and feel that most "athletes" are overpaid, over-hormoned, whiney nonheroes, but I would not be surprised if there is some snow during the Patriots-San Diego game. It will certainly be cold enough for the CA team  . Jay :letitsnow:

Well Jay, I can't be too cruel to them either. Obviously, I get my money's worth out of them with my phone plus DSL bill of just under $40.00 per month. They drive me crazy at times (especially their endless efforts to sell me on "FIOS"), but overall it could be a lot worse. For cell service, I use T-Mobile "pay-as-you-go" and end up with an average cost of about $50.00 per year. Yes, I am one very frugal SOB! :D

Rain this time is okay with me. :) Yesterday's crazy storm really blew my mind. A brief pause in the action right now would not be the worst thing in the world. Best to let me get hungry again before I need to go out and do it all over again. :o

Dougster

p.s., Well, son of a gun! Just as I was hitting the send key on this last post there was a knock at the door and guess who it was standing there? Your friendly local Verizon repair man! He laughed out loud at the Thursday prediction I had been given! Real nice guy I must say. The old Dougster is back in business again. No more lines hanging low in the street! :) -d

Dougster,

It suppose to rain heavy until tomorrow.:yuk: So I work overtime IN THE HANGAR tonight. Yea........time and a half.:thumb: I am also signed up for double time tomorrow night if it does rain me out at home working outside.:thumb::thumb: Take care and drink plenty of :starbucks:.
I am old enough to remember the OLD AT&T and SW Bell. Now I have AT&T for cell phone coverage.
hugs, Brandi

Now you've just got to stop with all this talk about time and a half and even DOUBLE TIME!!! The old Dougster nets a cool $1.57 per hour and there is no premium overtime pay for him... even though yesterday was a 13-hour day! Any more talk of this crazy premium pay and the old Dougster might decide to go hang himself. :(

BTW, I should have taken some pictures this morning. A bit more precipitation fell overnight and froze on the trees... and I must say that the amount of wet, heavy snow and ice clinging to the trees in my yard this morning was almost unbelievable. No wonder my lines came down.

No talk of that.:badidea::topicclosed:I hate to go do it, but two kids in college are putting me in the poor house.:pat: I gotta go work it. I would rather stay at home on a wet cold night and chat with y'all.

The old/new/revised/re-invented AT&T has more lives than a cat! And no way you are old compared to me. Heck, I remember meeting Alexander Graham Bell in person!!! ;) Only old FWJ can beat that claim! :D

Mucho better to work for DOUBLE TIME on a wet, cold night than to do it for $1.57 (net) per hour like I do!

Dougster

I can't believe that you bought his sob story and gave him 4x Hugs, Brandi. You do know that he is doing this so he gets attention don't you?:pat:
Ed,
Your right, it should have been 5Xhugs,.:pat::yum::yum: Is that a problem? Anyone that gives all he has to make a go of a "home" business has my :respect: I guess a still operation disguised as a beer keg tractor counterweight and a midnight discount steel supply outlet could qualify you as a "home business".:letitsnow:

It's okay Ed. Your time will come. :yum:

By the way, I've got a little fresh snowplowin' money in my pocket now. Time for me to buy dinner for a change. What shall it be? McDonalds or Burger King???

What don't you have a White Castle around here?:wtf:

While you guys are flirting with Brandi I am looking at weather data :poke: . Something is wrong with this picture  . There is a lot of confusion out there in the weather scene :pat: . Obviously I have no real life, I am trying to make sense of all of it :lam: . I will get back either later tonight and/or tomorrow early :waiting:. I still think there will be some snow for the "Big Game", even though my true interests are meteorological. Jay

PS: Right now Dougster you may not have to worry about pushing snow; maybe slush 1X. I think your area will start off with snow and quickly switch to rain. Keep you posted.

I'm thinking that dang SE MA rain-snow line is gonna keep me indoors and off the streets... same as it did WAY too many times last year. But this time I am not shedding any tears. The ground is still not frozen hard enough and I know I'd be tearing up lawns and older driveways again. That is strictly for the birds... a real net loser for the poor old Dougster's business. :o

Let's have a good, hard re-freeze next week... and then a foot or so of fluff to push! :thumb: Twice!!! :) How 'bout it Jay??? :D

Dougster

Hey somebody's got to do it. It beats trying to predict the weather. :yum:
You're just saying that because you've already got so much snow up there in Backwoods, Maine that you want Jay to stop doing his snow dance!!! :snow:

Well, I say Dance Jay Dance... :) ...although please wait until next week so I can recover fully from this week's minor disaster. :o

I'll really need to be hungry and cold again to get excited about climbing into that plow truck next time around. :o

Heck I ain't afraid of a little snow. Bring it on Jay, I'm ready for it. :letitsnow: :letitsnow: :letitsnow: :letitsnow: :letitsnow:

Jay’ Weather Predictions 1.15.08 @ 9:30 PM:

To All:

I am in a rambling state of mind. Please excuse my ramblings about the pending weather systems for NE this coming weekend.

To begin with there will be a couple of shots of increasingly arctic air coming in this week each shot colder than the one before starting Thursday-Friday. Timing and temperature is a major factor as to what is going to happen.

There are a few high pressure systems floating around out there right now that in my mind make things interesting.

There is a warm system with plenty of water developing in the South that will ride up the coast. In theory this system will override the colder surface air mass and create mixing and warming at the surface and mid-levels of the atmosphere. This system should arrive in NE Thursday late into Friday, but track is uncertain.

The snow/sleet/freezing rain/rain line is still uncertain. A lot of what happens is dependent upon how cold the column of air is that the precipitation is falling through and the actual storm track. This system right now appears to be a fast mover (different models say different things about timing and speed) which will keep precipitation levels down somewhat, but definitely uncertain.

This is what I think right now:

It starts out as snow everywhere early Friday morning.

It will transition to all rain in the Boston metro region- south. I think the Dougster will be able to relax and rest for this system.

There will be a band of snow changing to sleet, then freezing rain to rain west and north of the transition/rain line.

There will be a band of snow to sleet north and west. I currently believe the areas that got all the snow with the last system will get a sloppy mix this time.

There will a band of all snow north and west.

Right now I believe the narrow all snow band will extend from far western and northern CT through western MA (Berkshires and hill towns) into southern VT, most of NH and ME.

There is a secondary low pressure system that may complicate everything, but we may be a for in some snow flurries Saturday into Sunday for a lot of reasons.

Jay

I will keep you posted. :letitsnow:

PS: It is going to get real cold this weekened, abating somewhat this coming Tuesday.
