vehicle is a 2012 rtv1100

i need help! Let me tell you first,,i am only basic in my electric knowledge,,so if you start with any big technical language,,i won't get it. I can wire stuff if i have diagrams.

I ordered a book a month ago on my 1100,,but it has not come in yet for me to look at wire diagrams.

I have mounted a winch switch on the left end of the dash. I need a ground and power to this switch. I'm pretty sure I can find a ground,,but where should I splice in for power? Use "key on" power? Can i go to the ignition switch and splice in?

All the relays are hooked up under the hood, and my remote runs the winch properly. All I need is the cab switch to work,,and my install is complete.

2nd chore:

I have mounted a strobe light to the top rear of the cab on the center rubber rectangle. I looked at the fuse box for power for it, and found a fuse marked "spare". It is a 5 amp like the directions want. Do i need to remove the fuse box and add wire to the bottom of it to use this fuse? I can't see the bottom of the fuse box.

I really don't know much about the 1100's but I would truly think that a "spare" fuse is kinda universal. That is a fuse you use when you are out in the boonies and blow one and need a "spare" to get going again. For me, I would make a seperate fuse box for the lights and other accessories that comes straight off the battery, through the box with MANY places for different fuses, and then to the light, stereo, sprayer, coffee warmer..........

When I hooked up my Warn winch a couple of years ago on my old 900, wiring in the dash was totally part of the wiring that went to winch itself. I believe there was already wiring up front ready for the hook up for the winch and I ran the wiring from there back to the dash switch/remote..............Good luck and God bless....Dennis

Personally on this machine or any thing I would tap right into the battery. You can use a heavy gauge wire right off of the battery then route it safely to the hood compartment. There you can add fuses or a fuse block to add anything 12 volts you want.
If you prefer the 12 volts only when the key is on you can add a 12 volt 30 amp relay. This gives you all options for 12 volt constant and 12 volt key on only.

Regards

Mark

well,, that's what i thought too when i first looked at it, but that is not the case in my 1100 fusebox. Kubota apparently does not understand the word "spare".

The fuse is a 5amp, marked "spare" on the top of the fuse box lid. When you take the fuse out, you can plainly see the metal connector down inside that it plugs into as part of a circuit. On my "real spares" which are located at the end of the fusebox,,turned 90 degrees from the other fuses,,,when you take them out, there is no connector that they plug into under them,,,they are just stored there for the emergency you describe.

I hookef up a few wichs and on all of them the cab switch tied directly into the winch wireing harness.if i remember correctly its the green wire on the solenoid for the wich that rins the cab switch

Maybe we just assumed Kubota meant spare _fuse_, when what they really meant was spare _circuit_....

At the specialty truck manufacturer I worked for, a "spare pair" isn't something to giggle at, it's a pair of wires (positive and ground), for which you could specify the switching and location of additional wires that you will use to hook up something later.

I am sure that is the case since the fuse is in a circuit,,,somewhere. I got my kubota book today. There are no main schematics, so i don't know how to track the circuit down.

I got the winch done. I ran the power from the same place i ran the remote switch from,,,the unused wire sticking out from the harness under the hood.

I still don't know how i'll get power to the roof for the strobe.
