Windshield hinge question RTV1100

My windshield was offset to the right and would not latch closed. I loosened the hinges and adjusted the hinges in order to latch it but the hinges didn't look right to me. Are they supposed to be bent they way they are or did they get messed up and need bending back straight?

They sure look bent to me??? Which would definitely move the bottom of the windshield toward the passenger side to the point it might not latch.

Curious to see the outcome of this dilemma....

Sure doesn't look like my 1100 windshield hinges. What year is the RTV? Did you buy it new or used? Needless to say but if you decide to try to fix this, keep in mind how expensive that piece of glass would cost to replace.

Wondering now if those hinges are putting stress on the glass even as it sits there?

Odd how they could have gotten bent like that without busting the glass. Almost looks like they were originally produced like that.

He's got them unbolted so would be a great time to straighten them. :)

Its a 2008 and I bought two of these at a auction. The windshield wouldn't latch on the passenger side and when I got to looking at it saw that the windshield was offset. I loosened the hinges and was able to push it over and get it to seat in the frame and then it would latch. It just didn't seem right so I pulled the hinges and they seam to be bent to me. I don't know if the glass was replaced or not but it had been worked on. The nut on the inside of one hinge wasn't capped and the stepped rubber washer is missing that I now need to order.

you might want to check and see if the cage is concentric. possible it has been in a wreck? and the bent hinges are on purpose to make things work?

When I pushed the windshield over and it fits in the space for the windshield and I can latch it closed so I don't think the cab is bent. I think that maybe the windshield was open and could have been hit sideways some how to have bent the hinges but don't know. There is no damage other than the hinges seem to be bent and one stepped washer and nut missing. I was hoping that someone might have a photo of a hinge before I would bend it to what I think it should be.

Looks like the holes in the cab portion of the hinge are slightly slotted for vertical adjustment. Not sure about any horizontal adjustment?

I'd bend them back straight and then see if there's enough slop in the holes to fine tune.

The first time that the hired hand "tweaked" the fitment of the windshield was when he was more interested in how close he could get to a tree rather than looking at the broken off branch at about 4'. He pushed right through the glass windshield and in the process flexed the frame by about 2" out of square. We straightened it the best we could when we installed the new glass, the hinges fit if we flexed it just right, and the frame touched all the way around................

The second time was when doofus hired hand rolled the machine while almost at a stand still. We easily got it back up, no glass breakage; but this time the hinges were flexed and the closing clamps were out of line. Again, we had to push, bend, and flex. Finally we fabricated some small "wedges" to put under the clamps to realign.

OK, so the thing works, and no it isn't gonna win any "original" show condition type of contest but it works. That is what matters to me and if it isn't perfect, I guess my heirs are gonna have to worry about that......

Cowrider;

I ventured out in single digit temps to take some photos for you. LOL Just something Forum members do for each other and make this site a real joy to be part of.

I hope these pictures shed some light on your windshield hinge alignment .

Thanks for all the replies, yup I do figure mine are bent for sure. I will give them a tweak when I get the right step washer in. They could work the way they are but I would prefer that it would be at least some what close. This one will never win any beauty contest but I like things to work. I always hope that some one can be helped by reading these posts. Thanks
