Here's a "Talk About Anything" - II

The past year, he has brought home a bunch of big boy toys to use on the weekends around the farm. I think I will keep him around for a while.....he is turning out to be quite handy.....
I like big boy toys. :)
I'm only 500 miles away. A simple day drive so he can come in on a Friday afternoon, leave Sunday at midnight and nobody will notice the missing equipment.
What do you say? We on?

Anyone else being overrun by poison ivy this year?
It's friggin everywhere. I'm doing the neighbors acreage as a favor, just to stop the spread and to keep his perimeter safe for his kids (I kill everything with 5' of the lawn).

My farm has been soggy wet this year so far. So, I am being over run by everything. Including poison ivy. We went 8 days straight with rain in the middle of June. The past week, it has finally dried out enough I have been able to do a bit of dirt work around the farm without loading up the under carriage of my CTL with sticky mud. Our grass should be brown and crunchy by now. Nope.

Hello all. I haven't posted much about the RTV lately because ever since I put the K-Connect on it, the poor thing pretty much stays parked all summer and I use the other atv's for trail riding now. I guess it's now just our snow removal machine and dump truck for around the property.
Even all my tractors been sitting now that I'm pretty much done all my road building and landscaping on the property.

But I did get out to my friends farm and helped him with hay. I got to run the John Deere 6430 Premium with a New Holland inverter. That inverter is awesome. It works really good and unlike raking and tedding you only have to touch the hay once. And no leaf loss or broken stems.

Finally took the snow blower off the RTV. And discovered I really need to use it more in the summer. It was horribly gutless! It used to be really strong, did a solid 24/25 MPH and climbed my hills at 7 MPH with a load of gravel and AC on.
Took about 5 or 6 laps around property and up my hills before it finally started coming back around.
Ever since I put the K-Connect on and bought another sport side by side I quit using it for trail riding. So I told family start driving around property with it to keep it in use.
The drive coupler still looks like new after a full winter of blowing snow.

You might consider using a soft mallet to clear the spark arrestor as they can get plugged.

I wonder if there is any kind of power draw on it now from that PTO driveline even when it's not engaged?

I had it out all afternoon picking up brush around the yard. Was a bit better again today. Fuel filter still looks good.

It doesn't have Bio-diesel in it, does it?

No, we actually have good fuel in this area. I think something might be not adjusted properly after dealer installed the hand throttle and K-Connect? Because I'm finding now that is running better after using it every day..........it got power back, but it doesn't seem to be recovering fast.
Meaning I'm climbing one of my hills and it will almost stall out momentarily for a couple seconds, then all of a sudden it will rev back up and go right back to 9 MPH where it used to be able to climb them.
In other words it will bog down and not recover nearly as quick as it used to.

I still have to get it back to dealer for some warranty anyway. The PTO light never did work and I seem to think the PTO driveline has more vibration than it should? But I just sold my trailer and am still waiting for the new one I ordered to come in.

Was just at my Kubota dealer yesterday ordering a BaumaLight 12KW PTO generator and got talking about my RTV. Am I ever happy I got it when I did in 2021! I paid $24,000 Canadian for my X1100C and they are now pushing $39,000 here with the tariff. And they are selling them as fast as they come in! So now, here in Ontario my RTV with the K-Connect and snow blower is pushing $60,000!!!!

Same here bud. I tried to find a price in Canada for my 520, and every site states "Request a Quote", which is never a good sign. They used to post the price of everything on the web site. The price is probably changing so often that they can't post it.

My thoughts exactly. As soon as pricing went crazy due to covid, Kubota Canada took the prices down because they were going up so often.
I was in the middle of buying a new M7060 right around Christmas one year. Was $66,000 then overnight on January first it suddenly became $74,000 with no changes at all, on a tractor that has been mass produced since 2012/13. That was the day I quit buying new tractors.

Anyone got any advise on what to do in Alabama or Florida panhandle?

The Mrs. and I are going to spend a week there coming up soon. Will be traveling from the Gulf up to Huntsville then back to the Gulf then head east into central FL. Looking for out-of-the-way sites (I think we're going to hit the major sites in Huntsville, Birmingham and the coastal cities). Are the back roads interesting?

We're traveling the Country, doing 2-week vacations at a time. We've done 5000+ miles in the last couple months and have visited something like 14 States.

Order a plate of fried green tomatoes........you won't regret it. In Florida, drive the A1A up the Atlantic coast. Nice scenery. Quaint beach towns. On the gulf side, Gulf Shores AL is a nice place to visit. Pensacola Florida is nice. Panama City Beach FL is nice in the off season. Nothing much to see there, but the beach is nice and you can find some good seafood if you search out the local marinas that have a bar and grill on the dock that only the locals and the fishermen visit. Stay away from the tourist trap seafood joints. Severely over priced and small portions. St. Augustine FL is a nice historic city/town/village to visit on the Atlantic side. If you are into NASCAR, you have the race track in Daytona FL. Birmingham can be a rough town. It's an old foundry town. Don't jump off any old exit there. You may end up in a neighborhood you don't want to drive your RV into. Once you drive away from the coasts, Florida is butt ugly. Alabama is flat and boring. If you have seen one pine tree, you have seen them all.:nopics:

If you are looking for historic places to visit, Muscle Shoals AL is known for a couple of recording studios that recorded many famous musicians and bands back in the 60's and 70's. Then, there is always the boobie bungalow in Huntsville........but your wife might not appreciate that........

There is a Navy museum in Pensacola Florida. Fort Walton Beach/Crestview Florida areas are pretty much Tourist areas. Beaches are white sand unlike the east coast gray/brown sand beaches.

We're going to hit all the main military museums and sites (as well as other places of interest), from Huntsville down to the coast.
We're going to cruise along the coast from approx. Mobile over to Apalachicola.
We have a place on the east coast of FL, pretty close to Daytona so we're familiar with that coast and its sights.

We just finished a mid-west trip. Flew into New Orleans then criss-crossed our way all the way up to MN. 2500 miles and 11 States. Last month we went out west and hit all the major National Parks and points of interest in CA, OR and NV which was another 2500 miles.
