New RTV for me??

BCzoom, I will put on the 4 boots -one is cracked open and the others are badly crazed, put on a new solenoid (I can stomp the gas pedal and it will click then and start when it does get stuck) but a new one since I'm selling it, and put on the oem WS tires I had taken off when it was new, and try to sell it in the market bulletin . I will keep the 589 aluminum wheels. The front drive shaft does rattle some still but that will stay as will the seat. The RTV delivery man said it was in the best condition he'd ever seen. for light hr machine -.4025 hrs on mine. Now an unethical person could change the hour meter and it will appear to have much less hours but I won't be doing that.. I will start at 5000 and see what happens. Imagine this ad: $5000, 04/05 Kubota RTV 900 with hydraulic dump, bedliner and canopy driven by little old lady- well maintained and serviced- uses no oil. 4023 hrs- sold as is , in very good condition . I will see what happens- . As much as I use it ,it will need repair work here and there but for someone that put just a couple hundred hrs a year , I think it would last a long time- If I were to keep it, I would put the new shaft on it. but that is 500 plus dollars . bordercollie

Sounds like a good plan. Did you try to use it as a trade on the new one? If so, I was curious how much they wanted to give for it.

I just came in from measuring and it is about an inch taller with the 25 " tires as compared to the worn 26" ers- . I also forgot to mention that I have a canopy and bed liner in the old one. I didn't ask about a trade as I was given a good price and didn't want to muddy the water. bordercollie

More things I found

After I get the repair parts for the '05 Hoss paid for,my next mission will be to get myself some of Tommies stick stoppers. I also see there is a cutout in the panel next to the rops above the air cleaner. I bet this is for the upgraded air pipe. I am thinking about getting a spin on type. I removed my makeshift extension on the '05 and replaced the oem box. It will be quieter that way.It will be laying in the cargo bed if the buyer wants to use it. There are grease fittings in both the rear inner and outer u joints.. The seat belts are retractable - More info as I discover it. bordercollie

I drove the '11 around the farm yesterday and can say that it really does have zip. My hat has blown off twice already too. My '05 will go 27 but it takes longer to reach that speed. The '11 stops nicely and can accelerate quickly- (the hat blowing off scenario). I like the way my 05 handles because it did just fine on stopping but there was hesitation on takeoff with it- it was hard to cut a cow off if she was galloping.I could gradually catch her but I do think I would quickly catch up with her with this '11. I also like the seat more and more. One thing though- the horn- I scared the heck out of the cows with the little beeper this morning when I was calling them up. They ran like crazy. I had replaced the beep beep horn on my '05 with a buick type horn and they were use to that. I will be trading that out as well as the improved spring loaded power point I added to the '05. . bordercollie

"spring loaded powerpiont".... an early version of presentation software used on the pre-pc, pre transistor/silicon chip computers that were mechanical as oppossed the electronic?????

Seriously Bordercollie....what is a spring loaded power point on your RTV????

Bordercollie

One quick question. I thought they had finally put the 2 inch receiver on the newer RTVs. So, does your 2011 have the smaller receiver or the 2 inch. I just put in a Koplin 2 inch receiver and am very happy with it. I use the 2 inch receiver for hauling my firewood trailer. I hated the smaller receiver.

Bordercollie,
I am very excited for you. That new machine looks super. It will serve you well !!!!
Looks like Kubota has been listening to some of our suggestions.

Seen where you were talking about putting the other RTV in the market bulletin. That is the
best place. There has been a zillions of good equipment sold there.

Doooo Whaaaaat?????? Haha! this is my power point Kanook. Simple but spring loaded- no plug to come loose. I put the new take off on the "05.
Xtrooper- There is a 2" receiver. I went to move mineral troughs this afternoon and forgot to borrow the 2" receiver from the truck. Went back and got it , then the holes for the pin wouldn't quite line up so had to substitute a smaller bolt to get me by. When my new hitch comes in from Amazon ,I imagine I will have to trim the back end of it on the electric hack saw. Did yours fit without trimming ?
Two Guns, Thank you. I will have to remember that every month for 5 years when I write out that check.
One of the improvements is a shield where that open space was under the front of the radiator on the older models. It would be easy to make one for the older ones. The rubber boot on the drive shaft is a little concerning without a guard as is the hydraulic cooler ready for a stick- will have to be very careful backing up. I will improvise a shield for the cooler . That boot -I'm not sure. I'm posting a few more pictures of the new features. bordercollie

looking at the picture of the bottom of the RTV. The one with the fins/flutes.

Be a great idea to take it off. Trace it on a piece of cardboad with Sharpie / Magic Marker.
Send to Tommy and let him make you a mesh to cover the existing finns. All you would have
to do is get some longer bolts.

Just a suggestion. Drumming up work for my swamp rat south of me >>>>>

Yea, Two Guns, I'm really glad you suggested the mud flaps. I can see now they will make a big difference in keeping the belly of the RTV cleaner. For anyone thinking of installing these handy things, you will need a 5mm allen wrench. They mount at the base of the wheel well where the bolts are welded on.
The seat is more comfortable after the 10 hrs of seat time I've already put on the machine. My arms are straight out if I lean back all the way. :) Still though it is good support.
I already have some expanded metal which will do what you are describing where the fins are. I also am going to cut a piece of it and add some heavy screen similar to the radiator screen as protection for the hyd cooler. On the fin piece, I will try it and see if it could be something that might work on the radiator area of the '05 type models although I bet just some heavy expanded metal would work as well as it- Peanut might could market them. I am also planning on putting a sheet of metal under the fuel tank at some time.
I'm gonna be placing an order with Peanut for a set of those stick stoppers very soon. I don't see myself straddling many of the thorny lemon trees with the rubber boot on the driveshaft though- And that boot replacement looks dealer only- expensive. bordercollie

Looks good! Wait till it starts to rain and get muddy. Then you will see how it really performs. How is the shifting on the new one?

..... don't forget the " SLIME"

Congratulations on your new RTV Bordercollie. It's nice for someone new to the RTV and Kubota to see someone who has put 4000 hours on a machine come back and buy another one. I hope this one is as good and better than your first one.

I tried to move it but you got there first!

Jim

Thanks for moving it Jim and OhioTC18! I shoulda paid more attention :) bordercollie
Yes LAtiger, Its a good product and I would have kept on with the '05 but the price on the "11 was so good, I decided to update. In fact, getting one with the updates so close to what I paid for the '05( and I shopped competitively then too) made my jaw drop when I first heard the price.I think if I remember right, with the top,, hydro lift, speedometer and bed liner , I paid about 10,8 plus tax. The '11-with mechanical improvements, hydro lift, spray in liner, speedometer, alloy wheels it was 12,7- Not bad considering how steel has gone up. (Those wheels are just eye candy but I do like them). With as many hours a year as I put on it ,I decided I should sell the '05- the hrs are still reasonable to people that know the kubota engine. Little things here and there- with the exceptions of the ujoints on the "05 and the driveshaft- it has been great.
By the way, I got the speedo because it does come in handy when spraying. Otherwise I wouldn't need it. I just came in for lunch but have been taking off the front boot axles in order to replace the "dry rotted" boots. It was easy so far and I will document that on another thread- It is my last hooray with my old buddy. But I plan to fix her up real good for the twilight years. I just hope whoever gets her takes care of her. Crazy , I know............
TwoGuns- an order of Slime is very necessary and will be done tonight. :) Bordercollie
