hand throttle

does your hand throttle stay where you put it? Mine has 1 notch for a "high idle" then you need to hold it wherever you want. If you let go, it falls back. Normal? I want to make it stay where I put it.

Wait for BCZoom to reply. He has one I believe. Most I have ever used you had to twist them to lock but I don't know about kubotas.

OK, I'm here and have one.

It's 2nd nature but here's how I think my hand moves.

There's a center button on top of the knob. Depress that with your thumb then lift the knob to the approx. desired RPM and release the thumb and let go of the knob. The RPM's should stay where you set it. For fine-tuning that RPM up or down a bit, twist the knob clock or counter-clockwise and it should go up or down.

Do you have the OEM kit? A notch for high-idle doesn't sound familiar.

Where did you mount the operators knob? Mine is left of the seat, next to the emer brake.

well,, mine is nothing like yours i guess,,,,
I have no button on top, and all there is is 1 notch that holds the throttle on high idle. After that if you keep pulling on it, it is spring loaded and will fall when you let go. Twisting does nothing. It is Kubota's OEM throttle that was part of the rtv. It is in the operating manual on page 29. Just says pull for hi and put back on low before driving.

Kubota Hand throttle kit (K7561-9945-0) (KTC W/G#V4241). Easy to install..Works well for snow plowing or other situations where the operator wants to keep the RPM up but need to vary the ground speed..Use mine all the time and operates as BCZOOM described.

Razor, Mine is a 2011 1100 and operates just like you describe. I too would prefer it stay where ever i release it. I have been meaning to check the return spring to see if it can be soften without affecting operation in other ways. Let us know if you resolve before I can get to it.
Down in back at the moment - proably for weeks. Roger

I'm not familiar with the 1100's system but to be honest, I've resolved these issues in the past using...

For heavy applications

For lighter applications:

Pull the cable out then pinch it between the knob and the dash with one of these.

They work nicely as a fuel shut-off on rubber fuel lines as well. :)

thanks for the p/n,,,why are there 2 different ones?

Looks like more money!

bczoom, what brand did you install?

I took the p/n from the installation instructions that came with the kit that I installed...don't know why there are 2 different numbers.

the one that came on the 1100 when new, is located on the left side by the emergency brake handle and diff lock. It is a plastic piece of junk that will not stay tight. Is yours well made?

Been on the machine for 3 years and works like a charm. Mounts in the hand brake/ hydraulic dump lever area. Solid and reliable.

On the 2012 1100RTV the OEM hand throttle is located beside the operator seat on the left side. It's just above the differental lock holder.

Pull the hand throttle increases the engine speed at half throttle. "Important Note: When operating the vehicle, always push the hand throttle back to the "LOW" position." KUBOTA RTV 1100 OPERATORS MANUAL, page 29.

There doesn't appear to be any other "instruction" from Kubota on when or how or why to use the hand throttle.

My guess would be some liability lawyers don't like the idea of it locking with the throttle open. Even though you need to actuate the foot pedal for the hydro to work. Like everything else these days a few fools make us all pay with our wallets and extra aggravation. Look at all the dumb ass switches on a simple riding mower.:furious:

The hand throttle on the 1100 will not work be itself, when operating the hand throttle the RTV will coast to a stop even the engine is at half throttle.

naw,,,probly just a cost saving measure,,,,cheap throttle,,,and then you must buy a good one seperately. I suppose they also can claim it saves fuel as the rpm's do not go up until needed,,which is a true fact.

There are MANY tractors that have hand throttles combined with seperate hydro controls. My Massey is like that,,and John Deere must have millions of lawnmowers with the same principle. I believe kubota has tractors like that also.
