Big problems now. Both rear axles have stripped splines after 150 hrs. on machine....110 hrs. with tracks installed. Need a trip to dealer to see how they are gong to handle this as it is very likely if they just replace parts with new we will have the same issue over again. This explains the transmission slipping sensation! I think it is time to start looking for a different vehicle. I'll see if I can post pics but I think there is a size limit here.

Barring the fact that they left the axle nut loose. what type of stress did they put on this? Only one axle like this? There are RTV 900's in Maine dragging snowmobile trails. Their big complaint is not enough traction. I'll check with dealer to see if they have replaced hubs on track machines.

We have a dealer west of here, that has sold 7 sets of tracks and will not sell anymore. They have had troubles with the hubs also. I don't think they have all been 1100's but I don't really know for sure.

Some of the machinces have been underwarrenty. Kubota says the problem is because of the tracks andwon't cover it, and Maxxis won't do anything because it is a Kubota part that is failing. The dealer is stuck with the problem.

Glenn,

When you say Maxxis, do you really mean Mattracks? I don't believe Maxxis makes tracks.

Mattracks and Tatou are the 2 big manufacturers of ATV/UTV/Truck tracks.

This was told to me by my sales person.. at my dealership. I had just happen to ask about them... and he knows of this forum [through me] and thought It might be good to share. I am pretty sure I heard him say Maxxis..but he could have easily mispoke.

I wonder if it matters which brand it is Mattracks or Tatou?

I forgot, Soucy makes tracks as well.

I decided awhile back that tracks aren't in my future so I haven't paid a lot of attention to the differences.
If/as I recall (and don't quote me on any of this):
Mattracks is the biggest brand and used in all types of applications.
Tatou is bigger in the ATV market.
Soucy are growing and theirs are lighter in weight making them easier on the machine.

I think that the Soucy tracks are about the heaviest. The ones on my 900 total out at over 900 lbs. Each track is over 225 lbs and Mattracks are only 125 each.

I stand corrected.
I was thinking of your tracks when I made that statement and thought I recalled that you liked the Soucy since they were well built but lighter.

Anybody know where hammerhead hails from? If the dealer that he spoke of not selling anymore RTV's with track is any where near the mid west the the tracks in question might be Mattracks.

I am in Central Maine... "my" dealer is in Fairfield. The dealer they were reffering to is maybe 50 or 60 miles west in Dixfield.

My man right at Soucy track says that this can not happen (splines stripped) but to be sure he is having the design engineer check on it. I will let everyone know what he has to say.

I believe the most important post is the one that said hubs were stripped and no tracks have been installed. I still wonder if there is a bunch that got through with less than full torque on axle nut. For splines to shear like that something needs to be loose or metal needs to be soft.

ez,

I'm thinking the same thing you are... on the level of leaning toward the axle nut no being torqued up .
