2" Receiver used for universal plow mount BAD

Hi all,

Last year I bought a plow to mount on the front of my RTV 900. It came with a "universal" plow mount that connected to the 2" square receiver in the front of my 900, Installed it, used it all last winter, thought it worked pretty well....then I took it off for the summer and went on with other (warmer tasks),
Went to put the plow and mount back on for this winter and found the 2" square receiver rather bent up and even broken welds....apparently this is NOT the way to push a plow, apparently the 2" square receiver and thin metal channel is not up to the forces present. I'll take some pics and add to this thread tomorrow .......
But in the mean time does anyone make a plow mount that bolts to the front of the Kubota?
Any help/suggestions locating a better, more durable means of mounting a plow to the front of a Kebota RTV 900 (serial A1477) would be greatly appreciated....
Winter is coming to Wisconsin too soon!!!!! Help!

There are lots of different plows out there I would call the manufacture of the plow you own and see if they have a different mount that connects to the frame.

You might also check with Peanut- our stick stopper custom crafter. He can make anything. collie

This is the Kubota mount that takes the Kubota and Curtis (Mfg the Kubota plow) plows,

Took a licking all last winter.

Been posted before but it shows the mount. You could probably weld up a setup for yours that mounts like these, Bob

Here is something I had made up for a front mount when modifying mine.

Pictures near the bottom show the new mount. Worked real well.

Tips: keep blade out in front on long arms like 2 or 3 feet, reason, you don't end in the ditch when trying to push back snow, tires are still on the pavement while the plow is well into the ditch.

Tips: blade pivot point, where it rotates left and right must be kept absolutely level to the ground so when it swings right and left it will not lift up on the opposite side. Don't ask me how I know, thus the reason most plow arms are bent upward so they mount higher on the bumper or attachment point.

Good luck, good welder guy and it's really not that hard.

Urednecku,

It would be nice not to have to worry about snow, but where you live at you can have other weather problems. In Illinois we can have snow storms and tornadoes. So no matter where you live weather of some kind affects you.

But back to the problem at hand, looks like a day at the local welding shop could make up something for you to use.

628pm, you are right, there are problems anyplace you go. Got a huge oak tree that hurricane Charlie split for me in '04, 1/2 of it just fell about a month ago.
(For reference, I have to tip-toe to reach the trunk where it is resting on the stump. I stand 6'1")

BUT - I'm still glad I don't have to deal with snow!
