Who's your new friend Two Guns? Does this one have a taste for trail camera's?

Been working hard trying to find the hogs in the New Year. None on the camera for the past 2 weeks. Moved it around to a few different spots. The first pen trap is under about 6 inches of water still. Built another last week closer to the barn and on higher ground but no takers yet. No tracks but corn gone. Think the coons and black birds are cleaning up on the corn. Reworked the trap trigger today. Had hogs up behind the house last night when the dog needed to go out at midnight. Too cold for me to sit out there at night to wait for them

Uncle Doug,

Really not a new friend, one that has been around for awhile, she creeps all over the farm. We are just about to be over run with the black bear. Talked to the biologist, and they promised me they should be off the list within two years. That don't help me at all now, for they have destroyed ALL my feeders. Destroyed, I think seven or eight Cuddeback cameras, not to mention many other things including my feelings. They have really cost me much $$$$$ in the last five years or so .... But when they take them off the list, I can promise one thing, every door in my place, including both shop doors, will have a black fur rug to clean ones boots off on.

Yep, you would be surprised how much black birds and crows can walk away with, must be the color >>>>

Have you tried snares, ( but can't let the dogs get around them at all ), we have & still do when hogs get to close to the barns and equipment trying to " root " up the place. He will NOT get away, you will have him !!!! Sending you the address now where you can get you a few, think that is where got them the last time, if not, let me know >>>>

....... two guns

They even sell snares on ebay, be sure you are buying a dozen insteed of just " one " . And also, try to get the snares with " swivels " on them >>>

Got your email thanks. The black birds show up every morning just after the feeder goes off. Lots of pic's of them cleaning up the corn. Have it set to go off at sunset also.

No reports of bears in this area. They can stay on the other side of the river. Are you able to rebuild any of the cuddebacks? I did run across a site with a lot of trail camera modification. I will post the link if I run across it again.

Always liked setting my feeder for very latesetting, something in the area of 45 -90 minutes beforesun goes down, just for the reason of squirrels, crows, blackbirds.

The bear don't give the camera a chance, but I have been able to save some of the camera cards....Even have had cameras" flash " in there mouth, and what do you get ? Beartongue & teeth .... And this has happend more than once.

Wish I could find the camera shot ..... but three years ago, had two deer walking pass the camera. The next camera shot was the second deer ( spike buck ) flying pass the camera stretched out . Then the next camera shot was the first deer ( big doe ) with her face damn near ripped off & bleeding so bad. Never knew what got ahold of that doe, but what ever it was, it was big. Swamp panther or black bear ? But whatever it was, was strong enough to dragg herabout 14 feet backwards while she was fighting trying to pull away. I seen the tracks on the ground where she was digging backwards in the dry dirt, but never seen track of anything else.Matter of fact, I seen the torn up ground even before I opened up the camera shell ....

Folks never know what goes on in the swamps after dark, food chain goes in reverse, things come out that would not ever come out in the daylight >>> It's a whole different world out there in the dark >>>>

I was having troubles with coons and birds geting my corn and I talked to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and they told me something that I could not beleive. I just dump corn on the ground inside my trap. They said to spray the corn with diesel fuel. the hogs would be the only thing that would eat it. I did not think it would work but it does. We have trap 3 hogs with the corn sprayed

Juat thought I would pass it on

good hunting

Wonder how long it will be before some city dwelling, tree hugging, animal rights activist comes out from their concrete jungle to condem whats been said on this thread?

[/quote] They make cartridges for them also!

I have heard of soaking the corn in diesel. Will need to try that on the next batch. Joe my Marine and my grandson were out on the RTV last night rabbit and hog hunting. 2 rabbits, 1 miss, no hogs seen. May try the lease for hogs now that gun deer season is over.

On my feeder I have a cheap timer with only a photo eye that will trigger at sun rise and sun set. The only options are how long the spinner motor runs. I will try and pick up a new one after the season is over. They should be on sale soon. This is my first home built feeder with a timer. Already started a second one.
