2011 RTV xt maintenance

I did the 3rd oil change yesterday at 249 hrs. I just can't put 200 hrs between changes yet. I had great luck with my '05 and it's high hours and I changed the oil about every 100 hrs. I am going to keep doing that routine. No blow by and no oil used on that '05 and it had (as all old members well know from me blabbing it all the time) over 4000 hrs on it. My thoughts are if it worked good , why change my routine ? .
I did blow off the crud and it seemed to come off easier with the Fluid Film under it. While the Fluid Film seemed to attract more dirt, then it made a nice covering just as members stated and looks like new underneath. I re applied the Fluid Film and started the greasing of the u joints... Now unless you get it just right ,those rear ujoints are a bear to grease... I am going to use the floor jack and just jack the rear up so I can turn the wheels and joints as needed to reach the zerk easily. I think that will help a lot. For the interest of the previous year model owners, the xt has greasable ujoints in the rear next to the transmission are easy to reach at the right angle .The ones closest to the wheel are accessible through an oval hole on the bottom of the frame below them they are hard to get at and hard to get just right -unless you have a really small greaser fitting.. bordercollie

Yes thanks, because my son did my grease job and now I'm not so sure he did the outer zerks by the wheel.:o
Man you run the hour meter up quick.

I hope we see you get 10000 hours on this one bordercollie. Its said on this forum of one that had 10000 hours and had never been apart if this is true these machines are worth the asking price.

With good care and oil changes, I think an RTV should just go and go and g.... I could have probably got that many hrs out of the '05 . But I don't do any engine work so I thought I wouldn't take the chance. It is nice to have the newer transmission "chasing" cows and going up and down ditches all the while.I would still have it if I didn't get such a deal on my RTV S edition xt with 0%.Plus.. I sold the '05 for almost 40 % of the new one's cost- Taking care of a machine really comes back to you. The oil change record pictures under the hood had several people waiting in line to buy the high hr machine based on the pictures alone. The guy that bought it had a lot of common sense about maintenance and repairs, shifting it, and the hydraulics. He didn't even drive it, he just listened to it purr..
I do let it get dirty with the work I do, but I am devoted to fluid changes. I clean the outside when I can. bordercollie.
