B7001 Starting issues

I have inherited a B7001 tractor which has sat for the last 6 years. Cleaned the fuel tank, drained and cleaned the fuel filter, I have fuel to the injectors. I believe the glow plugs are working but not sure. I have turned it over for several minutes numerious times. The only result is continued white exhaust coming out of the exhaust. I have noticed there is a plunge switch at the top end of the clutch, the switch is disconnected.
Any suggestions to begin to narrow down the issues would be appreciated.

Hi Gooselaker and welcome to Net Tractor Talk. I'm glad you found us. :thumb:

You are probably already doing this but ...just wanting to be sure you are turning the key to where the glow plugs have a chance to warm up before cranking the engine (normally that spot is just before the engine starts turning, just hold it there for 7 seconds or so, then start)

As for the plug by the clutch that sounds curious but I do not know that model.

Yes I have turned the key to the glow plug location, no light comes on so assume the circuit is broken. The switch by the clutch looks like a safety switch that is engaged when the clutch is engaged.

My glow plug light went out, so I thought they were not heating. when I had the tractor in for 400 hour service they checked and said the glow plugs were heating, and they could fix the light but it would cost 125 bucks. They said no need for that expense just to see the light. I agreed and was able to start up all winter when I needed to.

So now the question is is your light just out or are the glow plugs not heating? Wish I could tell you how to check the glow plugs. I thought someone had posted that on here a few years ago. I'll search for it and post here if I find it ...in the meantime one of our expert mechanics might wander in and tell you first hand how to check them.

This was posted last august. Talking about a Kubota RTV 900.

had the same problem on my 900. It was a bad glow plug. Check the resistance on each one , any one with resistance higher than 6 ohms is bad. You can get them at Napa , around $20.00 each.

Welcome to the forum!

White exhaust is a sign of raw diesel coming through. Sounds like your glow plugs may have a problem. For that switch, if it were safety related to starting (as opposed to operating), the tractor probably wouldn't even turn over.
